Laura Russell, 90, of Batesville passed away Monday, June 26, 2023.
She was born March 15, 1933 in Rural Benton County, Arkansas to John Phillips and Edith Setser Phillips.
Laura was a strong-willed, hardworking and fiercely independent woman of the Baptist faith. She worked for ConAgra for 22 years. She loved to read the Bible and mysteries, bake cakes and cookies, and sew dolls and quilts. She also enjoyed doing genealogy research.
Survivors include her five sons, Jack Russell of Southside, Steve Russell (Brunhilda) of Germany, Terry Russell of Pleasant Plains, Mike Russell (Kim) of Pleasant Plains and David Russell (Joy) of Melbourne; daughter, Carmela Bryant of Batesville; brother, Butch Phillips (Connie) of Pleasant Plains; ten grandchildren, Christine Raper, Kenny Lackington, Joanna Moffit, Jeff Russell, Jana Tyson, Larry Michael Justice, Misty Dawn Russell, Ashley Russell, TaShayla Fears and Jordan Bryant; eighteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Phillips; sisters, Mary Lamb, Lucille Dorsey, Anna Hyde and Lola Phillips; grandchildren, Sven Russell, John Hampton, David Allen Russell, Brandi Russell, Christopher Bryant and great-grandchild, Logan Bryant.
Services will be private.
