Shelby (Thompson) Cathcart, 80, of Beebe, Arkansas, formally of New Blaine, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023 in Searcy, Arkansas.
Shelby was born April 4, 1943 in Blytheville, Arkansas to James Vester Thompson and Thelma Martha (Lewis) Thompson. She worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company as a payroll accountant for 35 years before retiring. She was also a homemaker, wife, grandmother and a great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, planting flowers, fishing and singing. She was the sweetest, most kindhearted Christian woman people would ever know.
In addition to her parents; she is preceded in death by daughter, Jennifer Ann Akers; one brother, Benny Thompson and one sister, Shirley Duggar.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Robert Cathcart of the home; her son, Robert Cathcart, Jr. and wife, Marsha of Dover; one brother, J.V. Thompson and wife, Pat of Jacksonville, Florida; one sister, Joyce(Thompson) Gilbert of Booneville; a son-in-law, Lewis "Bucky" Akers of Cabot; three grandchildren, Nathan Cathcart and wife, Emily of Benton, Austen Cathcart and wife, Sydney of Dardanelle and Morgan Ann Akers of Cabot; two great-grandchildren, Collins Cathcart and Cain Cathcart; other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, June 26, 2023 at Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at the New Blaine Church of Christ, with burial to follow at Elizabeth Hall cemetery in New Blaine.
Funeral service and arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Cathcart, Austen Cathcart, Frankie Jay, Kris Bearden, Jerry Duggar and Michael Duggar.

Sweet Shelby, this is a tough one…I have known her and Mr Cathcart since I was 10 years old. Jen came home with me many times when we had basketball games after school. The Cathcart’s never missed a game throughout my playing with Jennifer through high school. Shelby fed Daren many times during hunting season, always welcomed him into their home. They were like family to us. We will miss her tremendously, and cherish our memories. She sure was loved.
