Russell Thomason passed away peacefully at his home in Osceola on Saturday, May 27, 2023. He was born in Memphis, TN on March 29, 1936 to Jasper and Kate Thomason Jr. Russell was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Osceola and the Knights of Columbus. He served as treasurer of St. Matthew's and was on the Church Council. Russell started farming with his father in 1964 and retired in 2009. He played football in high school and college and was named Mr. Osceola High School in 1954. Russell enjoyed going to Baker Implement and talking with other farmers. He loved to watch sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and Arkansas Razorbacks. Russell is survived by his wife, Diane Thomason; son, Russ (Katherine) Thomason; step-son, Graham (Robin) Kimbrough; step-daughters, Tina (Dan) Harlin, Dana (Paul) Porter; grandchildren, Christopher Porter, Allen Porter, Scott Porter, Rosalind Thomason; nephew, Joe McCorkle and great niece, Katy Jean McCorkle. He was preceded in death by his parents andd sister, Kate Schuncke. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Osceola from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with funeral service following at 11:00 am. Russell was such a friendly, congenial person. He used to come and pick up his newspaper from the Cotton Inn everyday and we would always talk and joke. My condolences to the family and Russ who used to tag along

So sorry I cannot be with you all this morning for the Celebration of Life Mass for Russell. He was such a gentleman and I know he had a great run but still hard to say good-bye!
