Dalton Hugh "Trixie" Edwards, 88, of Paris, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 in Paris. He was born on September 18, 1934 in Mulberry, Arkansas to his parents, James Dalton and Zona (Kelly) Edwards.
First and foremost Trixie was a Christian man, who loved his Lord. He was a member of the Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School for many years in Mulberry, Ozark and Paris. He was a member of Gideon's International, he was a 32nd Degree Mason and a United State Army Veteran. He is a past president of the Mulberry Lion's Club and Booster Clubs in both Mulberry and Paris. He served as a school board member in the Mulberry and Paris school districts and also served on the Paris Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors, where he spent many years coaching young men and women. Early in his career he worked for Dixie Cup for over 9 years. He worked side by side for 38 years with his wife, Marsha owning and operating several restaurants, including the Mulberry Dairy Dip, Tastee Freeze, the Mug and Jug in Ozark and the Dari-Delite in Paris and Ozark.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Wanda Dean, Marie Vickery and Sue Ann Wilson and one brother, Jesse Lee Edwards.
He is survived by his forever love of over 50 years, Marsha (Wilbanks) Edwards of Paris; two sons, Darrell Edwards of Houston, Texas and Kelly Edwards and wife, Nicole of Paris; one daughter, Debra Roe and husband, Paul of Fort Smith; two grandsons, Trevor Edwards of Dallas, Texas and Konnor Edwards of Paris; four granddaughters, Sara Fisher, Jessica Bray and Katlyn Sutton all of Fort Smith and Kelsey Edwards of Paris; one great-granddaughter, Addison Scott; one great-grandson, Julian Bray; one brother, James Edwards of Greenwood and one special young woman who has meant the world to Trixie and Marsha, Carmie McChristian. Dalton loved his family brothers in law, sisters in law, many nephews and nieces and friends too numerous to count.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Caulksville, officiated by Rev. Bill VanMeter. Burial will follow in New Cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Price, Shawn Gattis, Devin Robberson, Sam Seeger, Dustin Schluterman, Eric Wells, Toby Burkett and Sammy Hassen.
Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow Gideon members, members of the Dari Crew, former employees and anyone he ever coached.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Area on Aging nurses, Kendra, Kasey and Kayla and his aide at the time, Haylee. Each one of these young ladies gave wonderful comfort and care to both Trixie and Marsha. They would also like to thank Chaplain Ben Lewis for his visits and prayers, Dr. Douglas Buckley and the staff at Mercy Paris for always knowing what care Trixie needed and the many friends who assisted at church, basketball and baseball games.
Memorials may be made to Gideon's International for placement of scriptures.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Trixie was a great man. I will be forever grateful for him and Marsha being a pillar in the community providing jobs locally for so many. It was such a blessing to work for them as a teenager and young adult. I know he will be greatly missed in our community!!
