"Hope means hoping when everything seems hopeless" - GK Chesterton

On Sunday, May 21 Shandria "Shandy" Lee Roye won her valiant battle with stomach cancer. Perpetually hopeful, she left behind surgeries and excruciating treatments, passing on to be reunited with her beloved son, Campbell Allen.

Preceded in death by the aforementioned son, Campbell; Shandy is survived by her husband, Nick Roye; her mother, Linda Brown; her father, Dennis and "Bonus Mom", Doris Brown. Siblings include a step-sister, Amber Perrodin (Jonathan) and step-brother, Aaron King (Kristie); while her children include Landon Allen (Kayla), Elena Allen (Ben) and stepdaughter, Hailey Roye as well as nieces, Mariah King, Raine Perrodin and Ezmah Perrodin. Last but certainly not least, is Gemma, her mini-schnauzer who tirelessly buoyed her spirits throughout the difficult months of her treatment.

Born September 4th, 1968, Shandy met her life's sweetheart, Nick Roye, when love bloomed in a shared botany class at the U of A. From their first date to their final farewell, she was simply and always "Beautiful" to Nick. Despite their budding romance, their paths diverged after graduation, each pursuing different career aspirations and Nick's ultimate return to his hometown. Twenty-four years later they providentially reconnected and instantly rekindled the love that circumstance had interrupted.

Ignoring the grim prognosis that accompanies this form of cancer, Shandy savored each day and each season as was always her fashion, never dwelling on a future she could neither foresee nor control. Even if her quest for an English garden diminished, astonishingly, plans for her meticulous annual Christmas home decoration were uncompromised. When the remarkable staffs of the Mayo Clinic, or later, Little Rock's Carti welcomed her for the requisite regimens, she would inevitably arrive clad in her signature pink from head to toe. Determined not to let these interruptions deter them, Nick and Shandy continued their periodic visits to the mountains, beaches and even nearby Garvan Gardens, always taking the backroads to behold "...the huge impossible universe that stares us in the face..."

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope for Stomach Cancer at stocan.org. Family and friends are invited to join in Shandy's Memorial & Celebration on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 1-3pm, 13541 Alto Rd. Lowell, AR 72745.
