Mary Evelyn Smith of Brookland, AR passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023 at her home at the age of 85. She was born December 2, 1937 in Catron, MO to John and Effie (Stallings) Hathcoat. Mary worked at ASU for 25 in the Housing Department until retirement. She was a member of Potter's House Church and loved quilting, gardening, sewing, camping and family dinners.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Norris Eugene Smith; a brother, Cleroy Hathcoat; a son-in-law, Alfred Davidson and a sister, Willadean Morgan.
Mary leaves behind three daughters, Gail Davidson, Phyllis (Keith) Acord and Barbara (Phillip) Weese; grandchildren, Diane (Bo) James, Myron Davidson, Whitni (Zach) Metheny, Zackary (Macey) Weese and Monique Acord; great grandchildren, Hannah, Bailey, Avarie, Eden, Elliot, Anniston, Addison and Aria; a brother, Deb (Wanda) Hathcoat;and three sisters, Pat Smith, Shirley Thompson and Kay (Mike) Greenway.
Chapel services will be 10 am Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro with Rick Hathcoat officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Logan Allred, Ethan Allred, Briar Allred, Brian Allred, Kaleb Brown and Kagen Brown will serve as pallbearers.
