Gladys Marie Widner, age 92, of Greenbrier, Arkansas gained her heavenly wings on Friday, May 12th, 2023 at The Greenbrier Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born July 17, 1930 in Ontario, California to Fred Dickens and Osie (Clayborn) Dickens. Gladys is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Armel Widner; two sisters, Rena Wilson and Mary Hatch and one grandson, Mason Walker.
Gladys loved her Lord and family more than anything. She was a faithful, kind, hardworking housewife and farm woman. She cared for her bedfast husband for nine years when his health failed. Gladys loved her community and everyone in it, often caring for others. One year, she was awarded the Boone County Senior Farm Woman award. In her down time, she enjoyed making yeast cinnamon rolls and gooseberry cobbler pie. She never once met a stranger or saw an ugly baby.
She is survived by three sons, Dennis and his wife, Debbie Widner of Bald Knob, Mike and his wife, Treva Widner of Conway, and Greg and his wife, Michelle Widner of Dardanelle; two daughters, Fran Walker of Conway and Lisa Widner of Houston, Texas; one brother, Ray Dickens of Harrison; one sister, Viola Aguiar of Portland, Oregon; six grandchildren, Deanna Nelson, Sarah Miller, Amy Widner, Haley Walker, Erica Widner and Libby Widner; three great-grandchildren, Indiah Jones, Noah Miller and Savannah Nelson; two great-great-grandchildren, Norah Jones and Xander Jones and many other family and friends who will dearly miss her.
Visitation will be 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Ridgeway Church of Christ, with Bill Arnold and Marc Arnold officiating.
Burial will be at Gass Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mason Arnold, Rob Hulsey, Zane Hulsey, T.J. Wilson, Heath Miller and Matt Nelson.
The honorary pallbearer was her favorite and only grandson, Mason Walker.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Children's Home Inc., 5515 Walcott Rd, Paragould, Arkansas 72450.
Thanks to Village Park Assisted Living and Greenbrier Nursing and Rehab Center for the excellent care for Mrs. Widner.
