of Harrison, AR
April 6, 1941 - May 5, 2023
James Robert Woody Sr, age 82, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023, in Springfield, Missouri. He was born on April 6, 1941, in Fifty Six, Arkansas, the son of Robert Newton and Alda Marie (Bowers) Woody. Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. James recently rededicated his life to the Lord.
James loved spending time outdoors, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Any given day with beautiful weather, you would find him sitting on the front porch in the swing or in his rocking chair. He always greeted visitors with a joke and a weather update. As he was called by many, papaw spent much time fishing, camping, and mushroom hunting. He could tell you when and what to plant and would happily put any kids to work in the garden that he could!
James is survived by his wife, Linda Belle (Kelley) Woody, whom he married October 31, 1961, in Cotter, Arkansas; his daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Dale Roberts; his son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Jessica Woody; six grandchildren, Joshua Woody, Caitlin Fornes, Olivia Woody, Sophia Woody, Tosha Eli, Santana Campbell and soon to be eight great-grandchildren, along with two brothers, Gene Woody, Joel Woody and three sisters, Corine Trimble, Lois Sussman, and Sharon Reece.
Graveside service was at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Harrison, with Brother Dale Roberts officiating.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
