David was a humble man. As he did for many, David was there to help all he could and with all he had. And yet, when it came time to thank him and rightly so, David never chased after accolades, approval, or even appreciation. Many times, over the past decade, David reached out to me and my bride Paula with the words, “If you need anything, let me know.” And when we would thank him for his response to our needs, he would hold up his bent hand and make a flipping lift with it and say, “You don’t need to do that.” Likewise, Samuel, a patriarch of the Bible, was quick to answer God’s call, presenting himself as a willing servant at the mention of his name. Like David, he was willing to serve God in whatever way he was asked and did it with a humble and grateful heart.

He leaves behind a legacy of a firm believer in our Almighty God, a loyal husband, and a proud Father. He left us way too soon, but he is now with Linda, where they are standing face to face with our Savior. They are sorely missed here on earth, but prayerfully, we will join them someday.
