Joycelyon E. Young, 86, of Magazine, Arkansas passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on February 20, 1937 in the Green Bench Community near Paris to her parents, Jesse Irwin and Ola Inettie (Beckett) Stropes.

Joycelyon worked for many years as a cook for Magazine Schools and was a devoted homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Magazine and loved working in her flower beds and most of all spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, W.H. ''Balk'' Young; two sisters, Della ''Boots'' Wright and Rose Acklin; two brothers, Jr. Stropes and Robert Stropes and one great-grandson, Liam Young.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Young of Magazine; Garry Young and wife, Cindy of Booneville; Douglas Young of Magazine and Dean Young and wife, Kelly of Magazine; three sisters, Margaret Asbury of Magazine, Carolyn Kelley of Springdale and Eva Barnett of Magazine; one brother, Amos Stropes of Booneville; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Magazine, officiated by Rev. James Isaacs. Burial will follow in Shaw Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

Pallbearers will be Josh Young, Lance Young, Lucas Young, Sonny Girrod, Morgan Young and Isaiah Young.

Honorary pallbearers will be Amanda McCubbins and Alexandra Canada.
