James E. "Jack" Sanderson, 93, of Piney, died Thursday, January 12, 2023 in Fort Smith. He was born April 7, 1929 in Piney to Dolan D. and Bertha E. (Parrish) Sanderson. Jack was deeply devoted to his family, especially his wife, Elizabeth and always worked hard to provide for them. He enjoyed making people laugh and was a devout member of Lake Hills Church. Jack was devoted to his country, serving in the Army during the Korean War. Afterward, he enjoyed many jobs including logging, farming and bus driving. Jack was also fond of the outdoors and tinkering with tractors.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dolan and Bertha Sanderson and three siblings: his brother, Leonard Sanderson; his sister, Sylvia Charlton and his brother, Leamon Sanderson.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Sanderson; five children, Monica Henry and husband, Gary, Cheryl Smith and husband, Randy, James Sanderson Jr., Terry Sanderson and wife, Elaine and Dolan Sanderson; ten grandchildren, Rebecca Yasunaga and husband, Joey, Jennifer McGill and husband, Shawn, Josh Smith and wife, Stacey, Sarah Martin and husband, Jared, Jacqueline Sanderson, Shannon Chandler, Melissa Thatcher and husband, Tracy, Gary Richardson and wife, Paula, Erica Houghton and husband, Seth and Matthew Sanderson; numerous great-grandchildren and several nephews, nieces, family and friends.
A visitation will begin 1 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2023 followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at Lake Hills Church in Russellville. Burial will be at Brock Cemetery. Bishop Tony Reynolds and Pastor Josh Reynolds will officiate. Roy Robert Schreckhise Jr., Don Cagle, Josh Smith, Jared Martin, Seth Houghton and Matthew Sanderson will serve as bearers.
We want to send our sincere condolences to you & your family for your great loss. He was certainly blessed by The Lord with his longevity & a wonderful family, We are sorry that we never had the privilege of knowing him. He had to be an amazing man because he raised a marvelous daughter, Monica Henry. God bless you & your family at this time of bereavement. I'm so glad to have met Mr. Sanderson. I would have loved to hear more of his incredible experiences. He will be greatly missed. May God bless his family with peace and love for one another going forward.
I am greatly saddened to hear of the loss of your father. I remember him very well and my heart and prayers go out to all of you and your family. . I remember my own father, whom I lost in 2007, thought very highly of your father...as we all did....

I got to know Jack when driving school bus, he was such a good man and willing to share his knowledge with us younger drivers. Always fun and he lived his faith in everything he did! Praying for you family!
I have known Jack and his family all my life they are just like my family .He always was laughing and precious....Loved him Dearly .Now he's walking streets of Gold..God Bless
