Virginia Jacqueline Barnett Hill, 93, affectionately called Jackie by family and friends, transitioned from her earthly journey into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully Saturday, December 10, 2022 at her home in Moro, Arkansas.

Mrs. Hill was born January 7, 1929 in Senath, MO to the late Dr. E.M. and Nora Mae Pace Barnett. The family later moved to Marvell, Arkansas where Jackie attended school and enjoyed being on sports teams. At the age of 17, she met Ray L. Hill of Moro; on June 29, 1946, they married and moved to Grays, Arkansas, where Ray was a serviceman for Woodruff Electric.

While at Grays, Mrs. Hill attended McCrory High School her senior year. Some months after graduating, she and Ray moved to Forrest City in response to a company transfer. While at Forrest City, they had their daughter in 1948 and their son in 1949. There Jackie attended First Baptist Church where as a young wife and mother, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was the first to tell her children about Jesus.

She was devoted to her Lord, family and friends and enjoyed visits with family and friends, cooking for them, reading, studying the Bible, working word search and crossword puzzles, working in her yard with her flowers, sewing and crocheting. Her Dorcas Sunday school class teacher once wrote a letter to Jackie's family in which she complemented Jackie's knowledge and understanding of the Bible.

Mrs. Hill was a talented seamstress who, without a pattern, could lay out a piece of material, cut out a shirt, dress, or jacket, seam it up and it would fit well. In 1955, the family moved to Moro; there Mrs. Hill joined Moro Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching and singing in the choir. She taught the young ones to pray and would be so excited when they prayed that her face would just glow with a big smile. During 49 years of marriage Jackie and Ray were inseparable and enjoyed many activities especially family reunions and camping with their Good Sam group, where they made many good friends and participated in Order of the Eastern Star meetings.

When Ray's health declined, she never left his side. While home with Ray, Jackie continued to serve her church. When she was called on for baked goods, she immediately answered the call, baking the requested cookies or cakes and taking them to the church. After Ray was called home to be with the Lord, Jackie was able to return to church where she faithfully attended for some years before her health begin to fail.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight brothers, four sisters, and four nephews.
Mrs. Hill is survived by daughter, Linda Rae Hall (Gene), a son, Edward Vincent Hill (Diana), three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

Services will be held Friday, December 16, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Moro Baptist Church in Moro, Arkansas. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will follow services at Oak Grove Cemetery in Moro, Arkansas. Roller-Citizens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
