of Mountain View, AR
October 27, 1928 - December 9, 2022
Inez Johnson, 94, departed for Heaven early on the morning of December 9, 2022. She passed away from natural causes. Inez was a long-time resident of Timbo and Mountain View. Her immediate family wishes to thank her nephews, Larry and Lowen Hull, for all they did that allowed her to stay in her home. It would not have been possible without their help, and it meant the world to extremely independent Inez to be able to be in her home the last few years.
Inez was born on October 27, 1928, in Sylamore, to Howard and Velma Adamson. She married Merl Johnson, of Timbo, Arkansas, on November 15, 1947. Inez and Merl were married 32 years until his death in 1980. In her heart, they were married until the day she passed. Inez had three siblings. Her two sisters, Geneva Hull and Dorothy Pittman preceded her in death. Her brother, Howard ''Blackie'' Adamson and his partner, Amy Mascarenas are residents of Amarillo, Texas.
Inez was a member of Blue Mountain Baptist Church in Timbo for 68 years. She loved being a part of the church family there, and was an active member up until the last few years. She had many fond memories of homecomings and special times spent with friends at church. J.L. Broyles and his wife Eula were friends from the church that made a point to visit Inez, and helped her feel connected to the church family even when she couldn't attend in person.
Inez worked in the Blanchard Shirt factory for 20 years. She had many wonderful stories about her time there. She stayed in touch with several of her friends from there over the years. Mrs. Pat Sloan was one of those friends. She and Inez had many adventures together. Inez's family is so grateful for Pat and the many other friends that checked on her; called her; and, came by to visit or bring her a little something. Those friends represent innumerable small blessings. Inez was very fortunate to have such wonderful friends.
Inez loved to play games. She was an avid reader of many kinds of books. She thoroughly enjoyed sports, particularly any Razorback team, and NASCAR. There was rarely a Sunday during race season that she wasn't recording a race to watch at a later time. Inez enjoyed live music, and taught herself to read music and play the piano a little. Until she was unable to, Inez found joy in working in her yard and maintaining it. She loved to have flowers blooming and plants growing. She made the best chocolate gravy around, and could make a delicious pan of cornbread. Inez also loved to laugh. She had a wonderful sense of humor, as well as an adventurous streak that might surprise you. She was an absolutely wonderful person.
Inez is survived by her son, Allen Merl Johnson, 73, and his wife Linda, of Wytheville, Virginia. Inez was beloved by her two granddaughters, Charray Johnson and Tasha Johnson, both of North Carolina, along with Tasha's partner, Evan Hatch. Inez is survived by two step-great grandsons, Dylan and Nick Anderson of Wytheville, Virginia, as well. Inez has many extended family members that loved her dearly. She was aunt to nine nephews and five nieces, and many great nephews and nieces. She will be profoundly missed by all that knew her.
Funeral services will take place at Blue Mountain Church in Timbo, Arkansas, on Saturday, December 17, 2022. The family will receive visitors from 1 to 2pm, with the service to take place immediately after. Pallbearers will be Lowen Hull, Larry Hull, Donald Sharp, Donald Beckham, David Beckham and J.L. Broyles. Honorary pallbearers are Aubrey Richardson and Nick Anderson. In lieu of flowers, Inez's family asks that you make donations to Legacy Hospice, 111 North Main Street, Salem, AR 72576 so that other families may be helped during their times of need.
Sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful friend. We have missed her at Blue Mountain Church for so long. She has been in back pain for so long. She is free from all pain now and is with her husband, family and friends and her savior. She will be waiting for her family down here to come. But I know she is happy! God bless you all!

While I never met Mrs. Johnson, I’ve heard many wonderful stories over the years as an old friend of her granddaughters. She was dearly loved and cherished by them both and I know they and many others will miss her deeply. My deepest condolences to all of her family and loved ones. All are in my thoughts and prayers.

I’m so very sorry for your loss. Inez was very special to our family and such a Christian witness to all who knew her. So many memories of her at ballgames, back in the day, church, Walmart visits, and the Widow suppers, she was always such a joy to be around. Allen and family, remember the memories and God does bless us during this time.
