Shirley Faye (Ebbert) Hickenbottom, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, of Greenbrier, Arkansas, formerly of Galesburg, Illinois, died Friday, November 11, 2022, in Greenbrier, Arkansas, with family by her side. Shirley was 96. She was born September 15, 1926 in Bushnell, Illinois, to Lester and Faye (Hood) Ebbert. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and one sister.
She married Norman Hickenbottom at the Presbyterian Church in Bushnell on June 29, 1947. He died on January 14, 2017. They celebrated 69 wonderful years of marriage before his passing. After her husband passed, Shirley moved from Galesburg, Illinois, to Greenbrier, Arkansas, to live with her son and daughter-in-law. Shirley loved flowers and enjoyed their beauty. In her younger years, she worked alongside her husband restoring antique cars. She collected vintage Fisher Price toys. Shirley and Norm were active members of the Silver Sneakers Club at the YMCA.
Survivors include her three children, Brenda Goodman of Galesburg, Michael (Janet) Hickenbottom of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and Mark (Sue) Hickenbottom of Greenbrier, Arkansas; one sister, Margie Statler, of Warrenton, Missouri; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
