March 29, 1930 - November 4, 2022
Mary Edith Staples passed quietly from this earthly life into the awesome presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 4, 2022.
Mary Edith was born in Delta, Colorado on March 29, 1930 to Claude Hammond Trickett and Iva Sadie Cowley Trickett.
She married Leslie Eugene Staples on April 2, 1949. Together they had three sons, Stephen Staples (married to Deborah), Gregory Staples (married to JoAnn) and Ricky Staples (married to Teresa). She has nine grandchildren, Julie, Kevin, Mark, Jennifer, Jamie, Diane, Jason, Derrick and Jon; twelve great grandchildren, Alicea, Ryan, Preston, Lane, Abby, Madison, Harper, Sawyer, Mallory, Levi, Blakeleigh and Kailyn and two great-great grandchildren, Avery and Sage.
Mary Edith loved her family and had many dear friends. She had a very humorous way about her, she was a good listener and always seemed to excel at the games she played at Parkstone Place. We will miss her deeply.
Deepest appreciation to Greg and JoAnn, who took her into their home and selflessly and lovingly cared for her during her last days.
Services will be Thursday, November 17, at 1:00 p.m. at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock.
Ms Mary Edith was one of the mature women of Grace Bible Church that I as a child to adulthood I considered one of “the†ladies of ladies. Her love for Christ shown through everything she did. Her personal relationship with Jesus Christ was an example for all the young and mature ladies she touched. I know she will be missed by all that loved her and I will lift her family up in prayer while they go through this transition life forces on us.
Mary Edith was a wonderful friend to me. She not only had a humorous way about her, but much wisdom, love, and caring. I have missed her friendship in the years post-GBC, but am blessed to have known her and called her a close friend. She is being laid to rest on the anniversary of my own mother’s death, when I will be with ReNata and DeAwna, but know that you are all in my prayers and I rejoice that I will rekindle our friendship one day in heaven.
I loved Mary-Edith, she was kind, alwys gracious and dedicated to the Lord.
So sorry for your loss. Praying for you Rick, Greg, and Steven during this time. She was a wonderful person.
My Aunt Mary Edith was a gracious, kind, and lovely Christian woman. My brothers and I have so many wonderful childhood memories of being with her, our Uncle Leslie. and Steve, Greg, and Ricky.
I had the pleasure of visiting with her from time to time over the last ten years and she always brought me joy. I so admired her independent spirit and love of the Lord. I loved her and will miss her deeply.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Mary Edith was always making me laugh and I missed her when she moved away from Good Shepherd. May the Lord give you peace and comfort and allow you to have vivid memories of your wonderful times with her until you meet again.

Hello Stephen, Greg and Ricky, I am so sorry to hear about your mother, Mary Edit. She was an amazing woman and had a wonderful sense of humor. I remember one time when Ed and Rita were visiting. She came to sit with all the younger people, saying she didn’t want to sit the older people who couldn’t hear. See you on the 17th. Love y’all!!! Susan
