of Harrison, AR
July 31, 1931 - October 6, 2022
Louis Edward Day, age 91, of Harrison passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Mount Vista Nursing Home of Harrison. He was born July 31, 1931, in Henry, Illinois, the son of Bert and Opal (Watson) Day. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Clara Turner and Carol Edens; and two grandsons, Davey Day and Bradley Fitzgerald.
Louis is survived by his wife, Eileen, of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Brad Fitzgerald of Forrest, Virginia, Jean and Warren Kingsley of Jonesboro, Georgia, and Joy Guffey of South Roxanna, Illinois; two sons, Stan Day of St. Charles, Missouri and David Day of Harrison; two sisters, Barbara (Jim) Dorsam of Streator, Illinois and Bonnie (Don) Ague of Silvis, Illinois; his brother, Richard (Edna) Day, of McAllen, Texas; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Louis attended Eagle Heights Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, chopping wood and generally being outdoors. He readily involved his children in these activities. He encouraged and supported his children in their pursuits. He worked hard to provide for his family's every need to the best of his abilities. We were never rich, but we always had what we needed. Most of all, Louis was totally dedicated to serving his Lord in every area of his life. He instilled a love for and knowledge of the Scriptures in each of his children and faithfully led multiple church congregations to a more profound knowledge of God's Word and how to practice its teaching in everyday life.
A special thank you to the administration, nurses, and aides of Legacy Hospice in dad's last days. Their knowledge and care for dad were invaluable.
The memorial service was held Monday, October 10, 2022, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
The interment was in Hill Top Cemetery.
I have many great memories with my Grandpa. I know he’s in Heaven, so we will meet again.
