Opal Corrine Thurston Oliger was born on October 31, 1933, to Chriss and Inez Thurston in Catron, Missouri. She went to her eternal reward on September 25, 2022. The matriarch and center of our large family, Opal was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family and many friends. Those who knew her knew she loved to be the life of the party. Opal was married to Hulus Herbert Oliger on February 2, 1952. Hulus was the love of her life and her best friend for 44 years.
Opal loved to travel and play games. She was an artist and also loved to crochet and collect teapots. She enjoyed parties and pretty hats and dressing to the nines. She will be greatly missed by all those that she leaves behind.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Hulus Oliger; her parents, Chriss and Inez Thurston; 3 brothers, Robert, Cleatis and James Thurston; 6 sisters, Vergenia Thurston, Jerlean and Earlene Thurston, Violet Thurston, Delores Avery, and Shelby Lindsey; grandson, Anthony Graue and 2 great-grandsons, Trysten and Ayden Noell.
She is survived by 10 children, Mary Graue (Doug), Debbi Hill (Ken), Lynn Criner (Arbie), Steven Oliger (Tracey), Robby Oliger (Teri), Carol Ramsey (Mike), Michael Oliger, David Oliger (Becky), Jerry Oliger (Missy) and Joel Oliger (Julie); 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
The funeral service was Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Bro. Anthony McCutcheon officiating.
Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeff Hill, Breckin Duck, Carter Sain, Brandon Oliger, Darren Criner, and Jacob Olivan.
Honorary pallbearers were Steven, Robby, Mike, David, Jerry, and Jody Oliger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Newton County Nursing Home, P.O. Box 442, Jasper, Arkansas 72641.

Opal was a joy to be around. We worked together at Emerson years ago.
She was a true Woman of Faith.
