Helen Marie Hignite, 81, of Oklahoma City died Monday, August 29 in Oklahoma City. She was born January 7, 1941 in Monticello, Iowa to Lawrence and Frances (Kurt) Burlage. Helen was an amazing cook, a fantastic seamstress and a talented educator. She was deeply devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with her seven grandchildren. Helen also worked over fifteen years in Quality Assurance for Sara Lee.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd James Hignite and three brothers, William Burlage, John Burlage and Robert Burlage.
Helen is survived by one son, Sonny Hignite and wife, Mary of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Judy Miller and husband, Jerry and Joan Guinn and husband, Jered both of Edmond, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Maya Hignite, Sonny Hignite Jr., Jack Guinn, Morgan Hignite, JT Guinn, Jenna Guinn and Katelyn Miller; two brothers, Richard Burlage of Brooklyn, New York and Don Burlage of Tipton, Indiana; one sister, Grace Tallman, of Davenport, Iowa and one sister-in-law, Amy Lois Hignite of Hartman.
A visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2022, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Clarksville followed by burial at Oakland Cemetery (at approx. 11:00a.m.). Father William Wewers, OSB will officiate. Jerry Miller, Jack Guinn, Jered Guinn, JT Guinn, Sonny Hignite and Sonny Hignite Jr. will serve as bearers.
Mrs. Hignite is one of the most precious souls I ever had the pleasure of meeting. She is such a beautiful person. Judy, Sonny & Joan my prayers are with your family. Thank you for sharing your precious momma with us!!
Very nice neighbor. Always had a smile on her face and willing to help anyone. She never saw a stranger.

Helen was an amazing woman. I’m glad that she and Floyd will be walking with God in Heaven as they did here on Earth. She will be greatly missed as I always enjoyed her voice.
I worked with Helen she was a good friend, we had good times there we worked at Sara Lee. You will be missed

I remember Hellen and working with her at Sara Lee. She was to me a very beautiful sweet lady and a wonderful cook. Often thought of her and how she was doing. Prayers for the family.
