James Preston Branscum, 77, of Batesville, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 1, 2022 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Mr. Branscum was born on Saturday, April 7, 1945 in Marshall, Arkansas to the late E.L. Branscum and Wilma Lee Farris Branscum.
Mr. Branscum served our country in Army National Guard for several years. Preston was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Batesville, Arkansas for many years. He earned a degree from Nashville Auto Diesel College and worked for the Arkansas State Highway Department in Batesville for over twenty-eight years.
Some of the things he enjoyed include riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, working on friends and neighbors vehicles, rebuilding motorcycles and spending time with family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of over fifty-four years, Ella Mae Lee Branscum; two daughters, Mindy Shaw (Kevin) of Batesville, Arkansas, Alicia Skipper (Brandon) of Batesville, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Clay Shaw, Sarah Shaw, Asher Skipper, Andon Skipper and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mr. Branscum is preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service for Preston will be 10 AM Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Farris Cemetery near Onia, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Kevin Shaw, Brandon Skipper, Clay Shaw, Asher Skipper, Andon Skipper, Doug Bradshaw, Donald Scott and Tommy Goforth. Brother Junior Barham will officiate.
I was so sorry to hear about Preston passing, My sisters & brothers grew up went to Timbo School and church at Blue Mountain with him & his parents. . His grandfather was our neighbor and we called him "Poppy Farris" as he was like a grandfather and my Aunt Ida was married to his our Uncle Vernon Farris. My prayers are with your family.
So sorry to hear of Preston’s passing. I haven’t seen him in years but remember him when we were growing up. He was a wonderful person. Prayers for the family.

We have missed attending church with Preston and going to lunch afterwards. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a good friend. Our prayers are with all the family and friends.
So sorry for your loss! We enjoyed being with Preston at Blue Mountain Church for several years. Missed him for the last few years due to health reasons but will see him again! May his family and friends find peace and comfort that comes from God in the days to come.
