of Marshall, AR
April 21, 1935 - August 28, 2022
During each person's lifetime we meet people who impact our lives; Patsy Ellouise Massey was one of those people. Patsy was a strong person and all that knew and loved her would agree. Born in Flippin, Arkansas on April 21st, 1935 to Dennis McKinnley Lee and Ida Icy Landers Lee, the 4th of 5 children, she passed from this life on Sunday, August 28th, 2022 at Highland Court. She grew up in Flippin and attended Flippin Public Schools. She was very proud of her Bobcat heritage. Patsy graduated from Leslie High School after she married J.D. Massey on October 18th, 1952.
Patsy began her banking career with Citizens Bank after working a few years at Flintrock Shirt Factory. She worked many, many years in banking. Patsy was involved with different civic activities, including the local Searcy County Softball League, beginning in the 1970's until the decline in the mid 1980's. She remained active in community organizations, helping promote Searcy County and was an original attendee and member of Searcy County Lead/AR group that worked tirelessly promoting Searcy County. Patsy enjoyed her many friends but none as special as Edna Treat; many miles they traveled together, shopping, going to shows in Branson, eating out, playing softball together, and in recent years being members of the Red Hat Society. Patsy was known as Lady Little Hat in the Society. So much laughter and fun times were shared over the years of their special friendship. Patsy was a caregiver and spent many years caring for her husband, J.D. and son, Jimmy. When her health allowed she attended Marshall Assembly of God Church. In March 2021 Patsy moved to Highland Court in Marshall. While she was a resident, she renewed friendships and made new ones. Patsy received excellent care and had amazing caregivers who worked tirelessly with extreme patience and diligence, providing for her even when her strong, independent personality caused difficulties for them.
Survivors include one son, Timmy L. Massey and wife Pam; her only grandson, Matthew Massey and Tristan; two great-grandsons, Jacob and Joey Massey, all of Marshall; one granddaughter of her heart, Kyla Horton Stephens of Bentonville; and one special friend, Carl Gilley of Highland Court.
Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Ida Lee; her husband, J.D. Massey who passed away in 2009; one son, Jimmy Massey; and siblings, Lloyd Lee, Virginia Parnell, Delberta Flippin and Perkey Poe.
Funeral services for Patsy will be 2:00 PM Friday, September 2nd, 2022 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Chris Reade and Bro. Brian Ragland officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 till 2:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in Marshall Memorial Gardens where Patsy will be laid to rest beside her husband, JD. Friends and family will serve as bearers. At the family's request in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Searcy County Humane Society, PO Box 543, Marshall, AR 72650.

The obituary was so perfect for Aunt Patsy. She was such a great person. I remember her laugh most of all! It was important for her to laugh and have fun as it was for all of the Lee girls! What a time they all must be having in heaven! Aunt Patsy devoted her life to caring for her family. She taught me that family is important and I cherish the time she spent with me sharing stories about our family history. She will be missed! I love you Aunt Patsy!

Our hearts are broken at the loss of our wonderful Aunt Patsy. I remember as a young girl, I thought Aunt Patsy was so classy, beautiful, kind, funny, strong and brave. I loved when I got to go home with her and watch her play softball. She had a contagious laugh and she knew everyone! After she'd laugh, she would say "well". Mom and dad would go on vacations with her and Uncle Jay. They would have the best time! She told the best stories and there was always something funny that happened. Although I'm so sad of her passing, I smile when I think of the reunion going on in Heaven with her sisters and rest of the family. I can hear them singing in harmony all the hymns they used to sing while Granny Lee is rocking in her chair. Thank you for all the wonderful memories Aunt Patsy and for loving us so well. Until we meet again.........Love your favorite niece (LOL) Delida
