John W. Rose, 76, of Rose Bud passed away at his home on July 22, 2022 with his wife by his side. He was born in Marianna, Arkansas on September 19, 1945 to the late Jesse Hubert and Laura Ramsey Rose. John was a member of the Rose Bud Church of Christ.
He married his wife, Nellie L. Nickleson on February 10, 1967. John retired from Entergy where he worked as an electrician in their power plant and served our country in the Arkansas Army National Guard.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, George H. ''Pete'', Jesse W., Curtis and Homer Rose and two grandchildren, Tanner and Brooklyn Rose. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years, Nellie of Rose Bud; two sons, Scott (Kelley) Rose and Steve (Elizabeth) Rose both of Searcy; four grandchildren, Wil (Alyssa) Rose, Riley (Tyler) Mayo, Tyler Rose and Elyn Rose; two great-grandchildren, Tauren and Teagan Mayo; two sisters, Virginia Coates and Evelyn (Jimmy) Bearden, along with many nieces and nephews and many extended family and friends.
John was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching all types of sports whether on TV but preferred watching them in person. Fishing was another of his favorite past times and enjoyed doing it with his family whenever he could. He was a big story teller and people enjoyed hearing his stories and some of his biggest fans of his stories are his grandchildren. In his eyes, his grandchildren are very special people and held a special place in his heart.
Services are set for Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home Chapel, with Visitation to be held at 10:00AM followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Bethel Cemetery in Rose Bud. All services are under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tanner and Brooklyn Rose Memorial Foundation, 125 Tarkington Dr., Searcy, AR 72143.

We enjoyed being neighbors with John in Charlotte for several years. Mitch enjoyed his stories and we enjoyed all the garden vegetables they shared with us. They were great neighbors! Prayers for Nellie and the family!

I was sad to hear this Johnny and I were such good friends and when I had cancer he was so good to call me or Ralph to see how I was doing. He will be missed.

Marianna will miss one of her favorite sons. Johnny knew everyone and who they were kin to and kept us all up to date with each other. He was kind and had wonderful memories to share.

Big John was always a joy to be around. He always made people laugh and enjoyed everyone company. He surely will be missed. Praying for Nellie and the Rose family.

A good friend and many precious memories attached to the Experiment Station in Marianna. Johnny and I have shared memories of the "good old days" and I also remember having Scott and Steve in Sunday School Class when they were little boys! Love to the family!
John was such a good guy. We have been friends since the 50's when our Dad's worked together at the Experiment Station in Marianna. He use to watch Howdy Doody with me every afternoon after school. His Dad use to watch boxing with my Dad . A good Christian man who will be missed by all who knew him
