of Searcy, AR
September 5, 1932 - July 1, 2022
Marie L. Smith, 89, of Searcy passed from this life on July 1, 2022 with her family by her side. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on September 5, 1932 to her parents, the late George Paul and Rosalie Bright Kaufman. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Downtown Church of Christ for many years.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William R. Smith; one brother, Melvin Lee Kaufman, Sr. and two sisters, Mildred Lowry and Mary Reed.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mike (Beverly) Smith, Mitzi (Charles) Cannon both of Searcy and Sylvia (Mark) Haile of Pangburn, eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews, other extended family members and many friends.
Marie is well known around the Searcy area, because she allowed herself to be involved in her community and served it with all she had. She worked in many areas, but all were areas of service. Marie worked and retired from Matthews with 17 years of service. She worked in the Assessor's Office, as a telephone operator, a hair dresser and at Bill's IGA; but the job she loved the most, was when she owned and operated the Searcy Florist since 1982. Her family said that she did not look at the florist as a job, but it was her hobby and her mission to her community.
Services for Ms. Marie will be on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 with visitation to be at 9:00 to10:00AM at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home Chapel followed by a Graveside service at White County Memorial Gardens at 10:30AM. The family has requested that Memorials may be made to the Sparrow's Promise, Searcy, AR or a charity of your choice.

Sorry for your lost, Love your sister in law
Marie was a special person. We went to church with her many years. She taught all four of our children in the 2 year old class. She was so patient with those toddlers. It’s the age most of them cry for a while when you leave them. She would calm them down quickly. She was our go to florist. She always had a smile for us. We are so sorry for your loss. May God give you comfort at this time.
She was such a kind lady! She always had a smile. Love to your loving and caring family. Hugs to all of you!
Ms. Marie will forever be in our hearts. Her and Sylvia were not only neighbors when we were at work they were awesome friends. Sylvia may you be comforted in this time of loss. Love and hugs and friends forever.
Mike, we are so sorry, praying for you and your Family. God be with you tomorrow as you say, so long, for a little while. Love you Mike and Beverly!

Condolences to all of you. Marie and I went to Fuller from First Grade through Twelfth Grade. We were always good friends, and everyone enjoyed being around her. We didn't see each other very often through the years but I will miss her. May you all find peace and comfort in the example Marie set for all of us. Much love to all of you. Rebekah Brown Lewis
