Johnnie Mae Hodges, age 88, passed away Monday, June 20th, 2022 at Foxbridge Assisted Living Facility in Bartlett, TN. She had been in poor health for the past several years.
Mrs. Hodges was born March 13, 1934 in Wynne, AR and was the daughter of George and Virginia Stovall. As a homemaker, she lived most of her life in several Arkansas cities, Memphis, TN and Greenwood, LA.
She often said, ''I believe God put me on this earth to take care of babies.'' Mrs. Hodges enjoyed reading, attending church and gospel music. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Mrs. Hodges married Thaddeus Leroy Hodges in 1948 and he preceded her in death in 2012. She was also preceded in death by two half-brothers, Ralph and Jimmy Stovall; grandson Richard Honeycutt, one great-grandchild, Taylor Norton and son-in-law, Tim Norton.
She is survived by seven children, Brenda Taylor of Southaven, MS, Patricia Norton of Bartlett, TN, Barbra and husband Peter Haven of Forrest City, AR, David and wife Karen Hodges of Greenwood, LA, Sandra and husband Bill Sides of Lake Cormorant, MS, Lisa and husband Shane Carr of Southaven, MS and Richard and wife Julie Hodges of Collierville, TN; one sister, Charline Jones of Virginia Beach, VA.; one brother, George ''Butch'' Stovall of Bullhead, AZ; one stepsister, Jackie Rodgers of Wynne; one half-sister, Peggy Massey of Edgemont, AR and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Service for Mrs. Hodges will be held graveside at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2022 at White County Memorial Gardens in Searcy, AR with Roller-Daniel Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that flowers be sent to Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, 411 East Race St., Searcy, AR 72143. Memorials in her honor may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
