February 2, 1924 - April 21, 2022
Marjorie T. McClain Owens was born in Helena, Arkansas, on February 02,1924, to Dewitt T. McClain and Edith T. Engle McClain. Our Mother passed peacefully in her sleep on April 21, 2022, in Talladega, Alabama.
Our parents met through mutual friends while our father was on a weekend pass from Maxwell Air Force Base. They subsequently married on August 31, 1943, and remained married until his death on February 07, 2001.
Mother graduated Magna Cum Laude from Woodruff High School (Helena, Arkansas) in 1942 where she set many high school records in track and field. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, crafting, reading and traveling. Her love of travel took her around the world and across America. Mother was actively involved in her church and community ministries.
Our mother always said her greatest achievements were her children and she never missed an opportunity to make sure we knew that. She was equally proud of each of her eight children. Her passing will leave a huge void that can never be filled. Each and every time momma spoke to us she ended with ''I love you more.''
Our Mother was a beautiful woman inside and out. She loved God, family and friends. Everyone who knew her loved her deeply. Her pastor said it best when he said momma was ''the wind beneath many wings'' this included her children and her church family.
Our Mother was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Curtis Owens; her parents; her daughter, Phyllis A. Jordan (Doyle, Sr.); sons, Michael F. Owens, and Philip H. Owens; granddaughter Teryl D. Pilcher (Brad) and a brother, Dee ''Buddy'' McClain (Jeanie).
Left to carry on her memory are her children: Donna Heffington (Dennis), Barbara Arquilla (Larry), Debra Skene (Rod), James F. Owens and Sherrill Owens (Zelma). As well as her grandchildren Cheryl Palmer (Joe), Doyle Jordan, Jr., Dennis Heffington, Jr. (Trista), Philip Bonner, Jr. and Loren Owens. She had ten great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren and a host of church family and friends.

Momma, I will love and miss you with all my heart until my last breath. I won't grieve for you, I know where you are. I will grieve my loss for a little while just as you always asked. But I will miss you and will find a deep and everlasting hole in my heart. Tell all I said hello, miss and love them as well; and look forward to the day when we have a huge family reunion. Until then I love you Momma, have a good nights sleep, we've got lots to do tomorrow.
Marjorie was such a sweet lady! I loved her playing Bunco with us and I loved talking to her about books we were reading. I know that there will be a huge hole left without seeing her sweet smile.
Please find comfort in knowing that you will see her again one day! Love you Donna and your entire family!
A sweet lady with a heart of gold. Always seen with a warm smile of love and sparkling eyes. I know she is rejoicing and shouting praise to our lord Jesus
Love and miss you, until we are together again!
