Elmer Max Fendley, age 90 of Oxley, Arkansas passed from this life on Sunday, February 20th, 2022 at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Oxley, Arkansas, less than 1/4 of a mile from where he passed, on January 21st, 1932 to John Thomas Fendley and Myrtle Julie Chadwick Fendley.
Max was well known by everyone for his redbone coon hounds. He was last of the 3rd generation of the Arkansas Fendleys.
Survivors include his son, Tommy Fendley of Oxley; granddaughter, Ashley Fendley (Jesse Greenway) of Oxley; grandson, Matthew Fendley (Tonya Fendley) of Little Rock; great-grandchildren, Brookelynn Oerlemans, Daymein Oerlemans, Zander Fendley, Isaiah Fendley and Piper Fendley; a very special companion for the past 30 plus years, Virginia Gail Brown; and many extended family and coon hunting friends who will also mourn his passing.
Max is preceded in death by his parents, John and Myrtle Fendley; his wife Shirley Ragland Fendley; son, Virgil House; brothers, Gene, Sonny and Maurice Fendley; and sisters, Lela Clark, Bertha Massey and Jolene Fendley.
Graveside services for Max will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022 at Kuykendall Cemetery with Bro. Darin Holliman officiating. Family will serve as bearers.

Max was my first cousin and always had a very happy attitude. I was always happy to go to Uncle Tom and Aunt Myrtle's house to see him.

Max was my friend and my neighbor. He was a wonderful man and such a southern gentleman. He loved sweets , and I loved baking, he will be missed. I have often told Gail it's a good thing he was hers or I would surely steal him, I loved this simple man dearly.

Max lost a red bone off on the river one time , it came across Daddys place and I caught it and let Max know I had it , so he could come and get it , he promised me the pick of the litter for catching her when he bred her , best squirrel dog I ever had , I will miss him. Following that dog all over the country, gave me some of the best memories of my life . Thanks Max .
