of Conway, AR
June 24, 1953 - February 7, 2022
Scott Thornton, age 68, passed from this life on February 7, 2022. He will truly be missed by his family and acquaintances who were always entertained by his witty humor and incredulous aptness for storytelling. Scott was predeceased by his parents Bruce Thornton and Betty Thornton Letzig.
He is survived by his brother Lance Thornton. He will live forever in the memory of his wife, Becky Thornton, for whom he was married to for 46 years. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his quaternion of children: Mandy (wife of Steven Moore), Brian (husband of Marilia Vinson), John (husband of Katie Thornton), and Bruce (husband of Brandie), and his grandchildren, David, Drew, Duval, Luana, Sharon, Dean, Teddy, Rosalee, Margo, Arabella, Isabelle, and Max. Not to be forgotten is Scott's beloved dachshund, Rocky, who is still wallowing in his grief of losing his master. The irony of this is not lost on his family members.
Scott was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on June 24, 1953, this was coincidentally the same year as his beloved Razorbacks had their worst football team record in history. An avid Arkansas Razorback fan, Scott endured the slings and arrows of the peaks (few and far between) and valleys (too numerous to mention) of the Hogs. He left this earth, hoping they would have successive winning seasons for future generations of Hog fans.
Scott spent his formative years in Hot Springs, eventually moving to Conway and graduating from St. Joseph Catholic High School. From high school, Scott attended and graduated from Louisiana State University (it couldn't be helped) with a degree in landscape architecture. He would like it to be known that this was the closest university that offered this degree and he was never a Tiger fan, even while living in a dorm room that was inside the stadium.
Upon successfully finishing his degree, Scott moved back to Conway and married the love of his life, Miss Becky Kordsmeier. His career that lasted four decades, included thousands of landscape plans, several editorial publications, two businesses, and a weekly garden column in the Log Cabin Democrat, Conway's finest paper. Upon his retirement from the landscape architecture profession he dedicated his life to his wife, grandchildren, 5,000 piece puzzles, and of course, Rocky.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 11:00am with recitation of the rosary beginning at 10:00am. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph's Columbarium with Fr. Anthony Robbins as Celebrant.

I got to know Scott back in the day when he had his landscape business on Washington Ave. His company took care of the landscaping and I
took care of the irrigation. He was always adamant “Do not trench inside the drip line of the trees†He was right. He was meticulous in his work but he also had a sense of humor. A good man who I was privileged to know.
Becky, We have been diligently praying for Scott and were so sorry to hear he had passed. We remember him as a great storyteller who enjoyed people very much. Our prayers are with you, Becky, and your family.
