Berniece Higby, 85, of Lamar, died Friday, December 17, 2021, in Clarksville. She was born August 15, 1936, in Augsburg, to Henry August and Margaret Bertha (Clements) Meimerstorf. Berniece was deeply devoted to her family and enjoyed playing Shanghai Rummy and other card games with her grandchildren. She also spent many hours gardening, fishing, and playing BINGO.
She is survived by one son, David Don Higby; two daughters, Diana Lynn Melton and husband Clint, and Cynthia Ann Melton; six grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold Meimerstorf.
Berniece is preceded in death by her husband David Kenneth Higby in 2009; one great-grandson, Quinton Cowell; two sisters, Rosie Smith and Kathryn Nordin; and three brothers, Robert, Johnny, Kenny Meimerstorf;
A visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home chapel. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with interment at Hickey Cemetery.
