Luis Zavala-Medel, 81, of Clarksville, Arkansas passed away December 10, 2021 at his home. He was born May 19, 1940 in Mexico City, Mexico to his parents Salvador and Rosario (Medel) Zavala. Luis loved cooking, singing, dancing, telling stories, lottery scratchers, reading his bible and helping others.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Salvador and Rosario (Medel) Zavala and one son, Javier Zavala.
Luis is survived by his wife, Lidia Zavala; three sons, Baltazar (Virginia) Zavala, Jose Zavala, and Cesar (Karina) Zavala; three daughters, Maria Zavala, Martha Stanley (Mark), and Lidia Prieto (Luis); fifteen grandchildren, Stephanie, Eryn,, Joseph, Julia, Lily, Daniel, Lauren, Jacob, Emilee, Naomi, Melissa, Lolita, Valerie, Luke, and Sammy; one great granddaughter, Emilia; Gumaro Zavala and Felipe Zavala amongst other brothers and sisters; many nieces and nephews including Manuel Ruiz who was like a son to him.
A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, December 13, 2021 at 7:00 PM at Iglesia Pentecostal Unida de Russellville, AR.

Luis Zavala fue un hombre generoso, con un sentido del humor sin igual, e instrumental en mi estadia en los Estados Unidos. Yo celebro su vida y sus enseñanzas. Quise mucho a mi tio y el me demostro que quiso a mi familia y a mi. Mi hijo Daniel lloró al saber de su partida al igual que yo. Pero tanto mi hijo, mi esposa, y yo sabemos que Dios lo bendijo y en su sueño Dios lo agarro de la mano y lo llevo con El. ¡Mi tio Luis Zavala, el Campeon de Campeones ya esta entre los Campeones de Dios!

To me grandpa was the personification of happiness. No matter the day, time or occasion he somehow always knew how to brighten my day. He advocated peace within the family and was a beacon of laughter and joy for us to gather around. I did not know the extent of pain he was in but I know that he must have been some type of superhero to be able to shine so brightly in our lives. He was my champion and always will be. Let him rest in peace and be lifted up by our love and the memories he left us with.
