Calvin Curtis Hensley, age 81, of Nixa, Missouri entered into rest Friday July 9, 2021 at his daughter's home in Nixa, Missouri surrounded by his family.
Calvin was born January 16, 1940 in Oden, Arkansas to the late Adren Isaac Hensley and Mary Violet (Brumley) Hensley.
Calvin was a migratory crop picker, musician, ready mix driver, dump truck driver, long haul semi-truck driver, a business owner of a tow truck company, and a backhoe rental service.
He was very proud of the success of the band he co-founded and played rhythm guitar in called ''Total Confusion.'' He took several college courses including Spanish and voice lessons. He was known in the Coachella Valley as the ''King of Crash'' for his many years spent entering and winning local destruction derby and rollover contests. He was his mother's biggest and proudest fan telling everyone that would listen all about her or sharing all about his grandchildren.
Calvin is survived by his 104 year old mother Mary Violet Hensley, of Yellville,
four daughters: Wanda Schultz (Derek) of Nixa, Missouri; Donna Skillern (Gunter Seyerly) of Heiningen, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany; Geneva Bates of Indio, California; and Rachel Anderson of Oklahoma.
He is also survived by his siblings: Beatrice Porter of Caddo Gap Arkansas; Marvin (Dolores) Hensley of Indio, California; Russell (Kimchi) Hensley of Yellville Arkansas; R.G. (Judy) Hensley of Luverne Minnesota; Eddie (Pam) Hensley of Temple Texas; Sandra (George) Flagg of Bull Shoals Arkansas; Lewonna (Tim) Nelson of Yellville Arkansas;
fourteen grandchildren: Christopher Schultz of Memphis, Tennessee; Charles Schultz of Pinyon Pines, California; Seth Schultz of Nixa, Missouri; Steven Schultz of La Quinta, California; Sawyer Schultz of Nixa, Missouri; Michelle (Adam) Stark of St. Louis, Missouri; Kimberly Skillern of Edwards, Oklahoma; Danielle Skillern of Liberty, Missouri; Bethanie Skillern of Heiningen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany; Herlinda Anderson, Arizona Anderson, both of Oklahoma; America Gomez, and Justin Gomez all of Las Vegas, Nevada; David Bisuano of Los Angeles, California;
twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, and many, many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; his wife Margaret (Landeryou) Hensley, and twin brothers Gary Lynn Hensley, and Larry Gwyn Hensley.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday July 17, 2021 at Roller-Burns Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rick Pyron officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.
Interment will follow at Layton Cemetery in Yellville.
Pallbearers will be Derek Schultz, Christopher Schultz, Charles Schultz, Seth Schultz, Steven Schultz, and Sawyer Schultz.
Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Flagg, Sterling Flagg, and Mike Hensley.
