Richard ''Dickie'' Neil Workman, 74, of Pine Bluff passed from this life Monday, March 29. He was born October 11, 1946 in Elkins, West Virginia, to Edith and Don Workman.
A graduate of Plum Bayou High School and the University of Arkansas at Monticello (formerly Arkansas A&M), Dickie was drafted into the Army where he served a tour in Vietnam. After returning home, he started a career in the agriculture industry that spanned more than 50 years. Here, he built many lasting relationships while volunteering his time and expertise on numerous boards and committees.
He married his high school sweetheart, Kay Webb Workman, on January 2, 1969. The two shared 52 years of love and memories, going out of their way to bring kindness to others.
The couple's children and grandchildren were the apple of Dickie's eye, and his love was evident as he was always eager to recount the highlights of their latest visits, recitals, and ball games in any conversation. Above all, Dickie was an active and beloved member of the Highway 79 Church of Christ where he served as a deacon.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Donna Busick. He is survived by his wife and two children, Kristi Pitts (Tony) of Eagle Pass, Texas, and Richie Workman (Grace) of Germantown, Tennessee; four grandchildren (Trace Pitts, Ella Pitts, Ellen Claire Workman, and Will Workman); and a host of extended family and loved ones.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 2, 2021 at 2:00 P. M. at Roller England Funeral Home. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at 1:00 P. M. Burial will follow at Mulberry Cemetery.
The family asked that memorials be made to the Hwy. 79 Church of Christ, 4341 Camden Rd., Pine Bluff, AR 71603.
We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering.

Sad for your loss. Dickie and I met at Arkansas A & M in the fall of 1964 and we had many classes together during my 3years there. I taught Agriculture at England for 5 years and lived beside his sister Donna. He was a good friend to me. Gary T McGhee

Dickie was a good friend during our late teens. We served together during Army basic training prior to going our separate ways out of boot camp. Over the years, I didn't have the pleasure of seeing Dickie except for one occasion as I lived primarily on the east coast. But I will always recall his gentle spirit and his humor which set him apart and made him special. I will miss him but comforted in the fact that he is with his Lord in eternity. My thoughts and prayers are with Kay and his family. Rest in peace my friend.

Kay, Richie, and Christi, how do I start. Dickie was my friend and Margie and I adored both Kay and Dickie. I hired Dickie when I moved to the Bayer Southern Region in1984 and never had any regrets. He was honest, dependable, pleasant and a committed employee who always had his customer’s best interests in sight while being a fair and honest promoter of Bayer. Over the years, my role changed with Bayer, but the great and personal respect and relationship I had for Dickie never changed. Margie loved Kay and Dickie and we had lots of great and fun outings. Margie and I can’t put into words the anguish of Dickie’s passing, but we will always cherish the memories. So we send our sincerest sympathies and although we have lost a great friend, God and Heaven has gained a gentle and sincere saint. Kay, Richie, and Christi, please hold on to the great memories you have and feel grateful Dickie has made an imprint that cannot be replaced.

Dickie was always a good friend even though I have not seen him in several years. Retirement does that. We had several good times together. We all went skiing in Colorado and I was very bad. Dickie always waited at the bottom of the hill for me with a big smile on his face saying you did good Don. Made me feel good but I did not think so. HA! I still smile thinking of the outing.

I first met Dickie when I was in the chemical supply business. He became a very dear friend and I always enjoyed the time we spent together. Unlike many people in the chemical business, Dickie always asked how I was doing and wanted to talk about things other than business. Dickie remained my friend when I was no longer in that business. I cherish the memories and golf trips we enjoyed together. He will be missed, but not forgotten.

Dickie and I were country boys, he was from Plum Bayou and I was from Sherrill. We got to be good friends when we attended college together in Monticello. Dickie had a new Mustang and we spent many hours together traveling back from school on weekends to our homes to see our girlfriends. It was time well spent as we both married our high school sweethearts. Kay was the love of his life and I knew back then they would always be together. Dickie helped me get my first job off the farm at a farm insecticide mixing plant in Pine Bluff. After college we went our separate ways and saw little of each other the last 50 years. I was however fortunate to see him again about 2 years ago. The thing I will always remember about Dickie is that he was a “genuine good personâ€. As they say, he was the real deal. He had a great personality and was always an optimistic person. I never heard him speak ill of anyone. It was my honor to have know him and call him my friend.
My prayers and thoughts are with Kay and the family. I know your hearts are broken now but you will have all the wonderful memories you shared with Dickie for ever in your hearts. My heart is also sad but I’m a better person having known Dickie Workman. Rest In Peace my friend!!!
