of Greenbrier, AR
June 16, 1929 - December 25, 2020
Edgar Russell (Hoover) Tilley, 91, of Greenbrier left this world for his heavenly home on December 25, 2020 at Greenbrier Nursing and Rehab Facility. He was born in Greenbrier, Arkansas on June 16, 1929 to the late Edgar and Gladys Tilley.
Hoover as most people knew him by, loved his family and working outside. He grew a garden each year up until his health began to fail. He loved his daughters and grandchildren, but Kimberly was the apple of his eye. He spent many hours taking Kim on drives, riding in the side by side, watching Christmas movies and listening to Christmas music year-round. He was always there with a helping hand to his family and friends. He was known as Daddy and Papa by his children and grandchildren. He was a faithful member of Springhill Baptist Church and loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Helen Steward Tilley, his parents, brothers Bill and Jim Tilley, sisters Betty Jo Smith and Anna Alley and brother-in-law Gene Alley.
He leaves to cherish his memory, daughters Brenda (David) Mahan, Karen Jo (Robert) Kapraun, Kimberly Tilley of Greenbrier, AR; Janet Lynn (Jerry) Daves of Bryant, AR.; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; brother Dewayne Tilley of Blytheville, AR; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at the Springhill Cemetery in Greenbrier, AR on Tuesday, December 29th at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Ed Stephenson officiating.
The family would like to extend their thanks to those who cared for him in the Greenbrier Nursing and Rehab Facility.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pathfinders of Arkansas (Cottonwood of Morrilton, AR) P.O. Box 647, Jacksonville, AR. 72078 or to Springhill Baptist Church, 25 Hwy 287, Greenbrier, AR 72058.
Pall Bearers will be his grandsons Rusty Mahan, Jacob Mahan, Adam Tackett, Jeremy Daves and Josh Daves.
Please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
To the Tilley family: When Nancy Hoffman and Kim Tilley were at the Faulkner Co. Day School, Work Force and Cottonwood Living Center, my parents Homer & Alta Hoffman socialized and worked at fundraisers with the Tilley's. The tie that bound them closely was having two wonderful special daughters. I send my condolences and loving thoughts on the loss of Mr. Tilley. He was such a friendly, jovial person!
A truly awesome Christian!
This kind, compassionate, gentle man leaves behind an amazing Legacy.
Prayers for his wonderful Family.
