Dr. Cobb, Greg, and Liz: I am so sorry to hear about your Sister and Mom. I have a list of people that have had an impact on my life, but she is at the top of the list. I read an earlier post that Chuck Overton said we had all been Thurmanized. I totally agree and it was a good thing. We all benefitted from writing journals and learning Greek Mythology! She had an impact on everyone she taught and enriched all of our lives she touched. There are just a certain amount of people who are in that category and she was definitely one of them.

I feel sure she will send me a message in one way or another critiquing my comments! LOL

I know you will all miss her and I am thinking about each one of you and your families.

Greg and Elizabeth,
My heart is broken for you. Your mother had a major empathy on my life. She is one of the ones that inspired me to be a teacher for the past 40 years. As a freshman I freaked out and called her when my English professor told me to write an essay. She calmed me and I did well. Chuck Overton said it best... we’ve all been Thurmanized. I’ll be praying for your family today and in the days to come. I loved her so ❤️❤️

We were only privileged to know Ms Judy for two plus years, but it turned out to be one of the greatest privileges of our lifetime. An early morning call back in April of 2018 and a common bond for a love of Cairn Terriers culminated into a treasured friendship. Ms. Judy was a fine example of life as it should be lived. She was a rare jewel in the crown. We loved her dearly and will miss her terribly. Prayers and heartfelt sympathy for her family. Steve and Lisa Smith

I am saddened to hear of Mrs. Judy Thurman's passing. I'm a former student from England High School. I was so scared of joining her class because everyone would say how tough she was. She ended up being one of my favorite high school teachers. Yes, she was tough but she taught us so much! I didn't know at the time how much her lessons would help me during college and for that I am grateful. RIL Mrs. Thurman. You inspired many. ❤️

I will forever be grateful for the impact Ms. Thurman made in my life. Over the past 30+ years I have referenced something she taught me more times than I can count. She challenged me to look at things from a different perspective and to think deeper than just what I could see. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

Learned so much from her! Some things as small as how to keep my school stuff organized and study effectively to life lessons like even things that scare you (like her class in 9th grade) can actually be the best place for you. I learned that even when you have bad knees you can effectively teach a class by rolling around the room in your chair! She taught me that nobody is going to do anything for you. If you want something you have got to go get it! She is the ultimate standard for a great teacher in my eyes.
