of England, AR
July 16, 1939 - January 25, 2020
Doyle Pettit, Jr. was finally reunited with his beloved wife on January 25, 2020. Doyle, Jr. or Papaw as he was known, was a hardworking man who loved his family and liked nothing more than being surrounded by them. He saw most family members daily and kept close tabs on the rest. Family traditions were also very important to him and he instilled these and a hard work ethic into his descendants.
He was a crane operator and continued ''working his rig'' in his chair and hospital bed up until his last few days. His children and grandchildren have often been told by his coworkers that ''He was the best crane operator, I've ever seen.'' Doyle, Jr. was a jokester and liked to tease those he loved. If he liked you, he really liked you and if he didn't …. We are so sorry.
Doyle, Jr. was born July 16, 1939 to Doyle Pettit, Sr. and Mona Fitch Pettit. Doyle, Jr. and Patsy were married February 15, 1959 and shared 57 years together before she preceded him on May 16, 2016. He has yearned to join her ever since. Together they are survived by children Ronnie Joe Pettit, Sr. (Sherri) of Scott, Patricia Ann Pettit Mullins (Johnny), Leonard Earl Pettit (Tanya), and Deborah Kay Pettit Surrett (Craig) all of England, and Douglas Wayne Pettit (Rhonda) of Fordyce.
Grandchildren Joey Pettit (Sissy) of Jonesboro, Micah Mullins Nichols (Zack), Brittney Pettit Robinson (Bradley), Ryan Surrett (Ashley), Peyton Mullins (Hilary), and Clayton Pettit all of England, Raeann Surrett of Conway, Matthew Pettit of Shreveport, LA, and Hannah Pettit of Fordyce.
Great grandchildren Caleb Hillis and Carleigh Robinson, Raylee and Anderson Nichols, Bentley and Briley Surrett, and Tyson Pettit, all of England, Kayden, Landon, and Asher Pettit of Jonesboro, and Emmalyn Pettit of Fordyce.
He is also survived by brothers Jerry Pettit (Kathy) of Coy and Billy Pettit (Chelo) of NLR and baby sister, Sheila Cannon of Pine Bluff and a host of beloved nieces and nephews and friends.
Doyle, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Mona Fitch Pettit and Doyle Pettit, Sr., wife Patsy Jean Harrison Pettit, brother Dwight Pettit, sister JoAnn Pettit Richards, brother-in-laws Jimmy Cannon and Charles Richards, and grandson Preston Pettit Mullins.
