of England, AR
March 10, 1921 - January 12, 2019
Mary Elizabeth Rochelle Duerson went home to be with her Saviour Saturday, January 12, 2019. She was born March 10, 1921 in Tomberlin, Arkansas to Thomas David Rochelle and Minnie Bell Pirtle Rochelle. She met the love of her life, William A. Duerson, Jr. in England, Arkansas, where she attended high school. They were married and in love, along with being best friends, for 65 years, and when he went on to be with his Saviour, she kept him in her heart until she left this earth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her eldest daughter, Barbara Carol Duerson Henderson, her son-in-law whom she dearly loved, Robert Duane Henderson, seven sisters, and two brothers, whom she considered dear friends as well.
Liz, or "Miss Liz" as many called her, is survived by one son, William Kerry Duerson (Sandie), of England, Arkansas, and one daughter, Melissa Duerson Harmon (Rod), of Thornton, CO; ten grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
She was a faithful and active member of the England United Methodist Church, where she served on various Circle committees, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School. In fact, Sunday was her favorite day of the week.
She was an avid golfer, and spent many days enjoying time outdoors with her 'golfing buddies.'
She lived her life serving and loving others, and took the greatest joy in her family and her church. She loved to laugh and brought joy to so many lives, but she was ready to go home. And though she will be dearly missed, we rejoice in the sweet memories she left us, of all the kindnesses she showed us, and all the lessons of love she taught us by her example.
Memorials may be made to the England United Methodist Church.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Roller England Funeral Home (501) 842-3939. Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Roller England Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6-8 PM Monday, January 14, 2019.
