of Harrison, AR
January 5, 1952 - April 12, 2025
Darrell Edward Wilson, age 73, of Harrison, passed away Saturday, April 12th, 2025, at his home. Darrell was born January 5th, 1952, in Harrison, the son of George Edward Wilson and Mary Elizabeth (Erwin) Wilson. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his sister LaDonna Holtby; his brother George Erwin Wilson; his mother-in-law Glenna Faye Smith; and his father-in-law Charles Grover Smith.
Darrell was raised in Harrison, where he grew up proudly playing Goblin football and running track and graduated at the top of his class before going on to attend the U of A and graduating from Twin Lakes Technical College. He then worked at Mass Merchandisers for over 20 years where he met his wife Shannon, and they went on to own various businesses and properties that Darrell was endlessly passionate about. He spent the last part of his career at ADC Manufacturing, where he planned to retire at the end of 2025. In Harrison, Darrell raised his five children, and built a beautiful home that he took pride in. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and nieces/nephews, always offering his heartfelt, grounded advice or listening ears, sharing rich stories of his family history, or being someone who they could be silly with when they needed a laugh. Throughout his life, he took many wonderful trips with his wife and children, always being a light in every memory they created. He also enjoyed being with his group of friends, as they traveled and had many fun moments together. He loved the years he spent farming and raising his cattle, and he lovingly named the land his home sat on ''Wilson Farm,'' which he took care of blissfully, in his famous gray sweatpants and one of many ballcaps, riding gallantly on his tractor. He always looked forward to spending weekends working in the yard with his wife Shannon, as well as playing game-shows, watching sports, listening to music, and singing songs with his family.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 35 years, Shannon Michelle (Smith) Wilson; his daughters, Rebecca Schaffer (husband Matt), Sarah Stober (husband Scott), Mattie Michelle Wilson, and Lillie Grace Wilson; his son, Nathan Wilson (wife Kelly); and his brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Joanne Wilson. Darrell is also survived by his many grandchildren, Zachary, Jonathan, Luke, Cooper, Ava, Aubrey, Hope, Hank, and Jhett; his sister-in-law Linda Mason; his brothers-in-law Chuck Smith and Stephen Smith; family friend Tammy Moore; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and a beloved host of friends.
Visitation was Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Roller-Christeson Funeral Home located at 519 N. Spring St. in Harrison, AR.
Funeral service was held Friday, April 18, 2025, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Moore officiating. Graveside service followed at Denning Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Darrell's grandchildren: Zachary, Jonathan, Luke, Cooper, Ava, Aubrey, Hope, Hank, and Jhett.
Honorary pallbearers were Terry McCutchen, Dave Morton, Robert Parkinson, Gordon Patterson, Rick Thomas, and Mike Thorton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made at CS Bank locations under Darrell Wilson Memorial Fund or to Denning Cemetery.
Becca and family,
I was so saddened to learn about your dad’s passing. Though I didn’t know him very well, I will always remember his kind and warm presence he carried-and that he was always smiling every time I saw him. It’s clear how deeply he was loved by many and how important his family was to him. I hope you find comfort in knowing that others recognize he was a great man. Keeping you and your whole family in my thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.
