I served in the Army.

James "Jim" Earl LynchI am a Veteran.

of Sherwood, AR

July 3, 1935 - April 12, 2025

James Earl ''Jim'' Lynch, 89, of Sherwood, Arkansas, passed away on April 12, 2025.

Jim was born July 3, 1935, in Beebe, Arkansas, to Ava Lee and Sam Lynch.

He studied chemistry at what is now Arkansas State University Beebe, and soon after, answered the call to serve his country by joining the U.S. Army. There, he explored fields like hydraulics and guided missile systems.

A skilled and dedicated machinist by trade, Jim spent much of his career with Clark Equipment and Carrier, and then Tool and Die Maker. Even in retirement, he never stopped working with his hands. One of his greatest joys was refurbishing old lawnmowers and giving them to those in need-a simple act of kindness that became a kind of ministry to him.

Jim was also a man of deep faith. During his years in Michigan, he was not only a faithful member of his church but served in nearly every role, including music director - a reflection of his commitment and love for his community.

An avid outdoorsman, Jim found peace and joy in the woods and on the water. Whether hunting or fishing, he was most at home in nature.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved granddaughter, Stephanie Bumstead.

He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 40 years, Betty Lou Lynch, who was the love of his life and his greatest companion. He also leaves behind to cherish his legacy his son, James Harold Lynch (Debbie), of Marana, Arizona; daughter, Saundra Kay Lynch, of Watervliet, Michigan; grandchildren, Nathan Phillippi, Randi Bumstead, Dakota Hettig, and Miyah Krystle Lynch; several great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; brother, Melvin Lynch; baby sister, Deborah Mitchell (J.E. Mitchell); a host of nieces and nephews; and many other beloved family and friends. Jim leaves behind a legacy of generosity, service, and quiet strength that will be cherished by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held at Sherwood First Church of the Nazarene at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 18, with visitation one hour prior. Committal service will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway, Arkansas, at 2:30 p.m.
