Mavis Lorene Eddings

of Blue Springs, MO

December 10, 1939 - April 9, 2025

In loving memory of a woman whose life was a tapestry of adventure and laughter, Mavis Eddings. She was born on December 10, 1939, in Yardelle, Arkansas, to James Boyd and Nellie Jones. She grew up in the charming town of Western Grove, Arkansas. Her father, a national forest firefighter, cattle rancher, and beekeeper, instilled in her a deep appreciation for nature and hard work. As the only daughter, she was cherished and spoiled by her three older brothers., whose outrageous humor filled her childhood with joy.

Her beauty and athleticism shone brightly during her high school years, where she played basketball and captivated everyone with her smile. It was during this time that she met Ralph Eddings, the love of her life. Together, they moved to Kansas City, where they built a beautiful life and raised two daughters, Arlene Eddings Hines (Chris) and Tammy Eddings Andrews (Chris); and has four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Her professional journey led her to Marion Laboratories in Kansas City, where she made significant contributions and formed lasting friendships. Her adventurous spirit took her on numerous hiking expeditions with her LAM girls, exploring the majestic landscapes of Mt. Hood, Oregon, and the Grand Canyon. She found solace and joy at the Lake of the Ozarks, where she spent countless hours enjoying the serene waters with her husband. Her love for music was evident in her love of Elvis Presley, Paul McCartney, and Allen Jackson, and her passion for sports was reflected in her unwavering support for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Royals; she cheered on Salvadore Perez in her last few days on this earth with fervor.

On April 9, 2025, she passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family who whispered their heartfelt, ''I love you'' in her ear. Her legacy of love, laughter, and adventure will forever be cherished by all who knew her.

Interment was Friday, April 11, 2025, in Sand Hill Cemetery, Yardelle, Arkansas.

Mavis was a great Aunt and friend. Her laugh and humor were contagious. Some of my best memories are of us together on the farm in Arkansas working hard together and scaring each other at night. She will always be in my thoughts and I will miss her so much.
