Ollie "Jean" Jean Wilson

of Marshall, AR

December 10, 1936 - April 2, 2025

Ollie Jean Wilson, who was called by ''Jean'', age 88 of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this life to the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025 at Highland Court in Marshall. She was born in Blue Mountain, Arkansas on December 10th, 1936 to John Thomas Roper and Rachel Overton Roper.

Jean was a devoted Christian of the Pentecostal faith. She loved the Lord and served Him by serving others. She wanted to lead people to Christ by testifying to them. She loved the word of God and wanted it read to her by visitors that came by to see her. She loved the days that the D.O.H.T girls came by to sing to her. Jean loved her family and enjoyed when they were able to come see her. She was a caregiver most of her life and enjoyed her work. She carried many titles but was best at being a mother, granny, great granny and great-great granny.

Jean leaves behind three daughters, Debra Clemons of Marshall, Ronda Byer (Ron) of Leslie and Freda Fender (Tom) of Augusta, GA; six grandchildren, Kalen Wilson (Gina), Robert Jr. Branscum (Kamie), Eric Clemons, Chase Byer, Heather Maple and Ronda Kay Russell (Larry); fourteen great-grandchildren, Robert Jr. and Ethan Palmer, Austin, Kirby and Zack Lawson, Robin, Stephen and Evette Sheridan, Matthew and Lee Maples, Jerica and Jakota Clemons, and Jacob and Gracie Branscum; two great-great grandchildren, Addie Lawson and Miracle Palmer; a special niece, Sharon Kay Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Jean is preceded in death by her two sons, William Kalen Wilson and Thomas Blake Wilson; her parents, John T. and Rachel Roper; grandson, Alton Long; great grandson, Dylan Palmer; eleven siblings, Tom Roper, Dovie Simmerman, Mary Alice Ramey, Beatric Chatman, Lois Wilson, and Euple Lee Nordrum; and ten half brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for Jean will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 8th, 2025 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Jackie Robinson and Bro. Tommy Roper officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM Monday, April 7th, 2025 in The Chapel. Burial will be in Elberta Cemetery near Leslie, Arkansas. Bearers will be Chase Byer, Eric Clemons, Paul Nordrum, Ethan Palmer, Robert Palmer Jr. and Matthew Maple. Honorary bearers will be Lee Maple, Kalen Wilson, Robert Branscum Jr. and Dwight Johnson.

I have known Jean my entire life. She was a peaceful soul, woman, wife and mother. For a time, Ms. Jean kindly aided our Halsted Family with the care of our bedfast mother Ruby. Jean was a God sent to us as a caregiver. Prayers of peace and comfort for her entire family in the knowledge that she now rests in the arms of a loving God.

May the Lord Jesus comfort you all everyday as you know your Mom, grandmother, is now with the Lord where she longed to be. I know you will miss her presence. She was a great spiritual woman and I will always remember that with gladness and joy. Know that you are loved by many friends and we’re praying for you. I loved to hear her sing!
