of West Memphis, AR
November 3, 1941 - March 29, 2025
James Walter House was born on November 3, 1941 in West Memphis and passed away March 29 at age 83 after a long health battle. He died peacefully in his sleep at Willowbend Rehabilitation Home in Marion.
James was well known through the community he loved. He was a member of the Master Gardener's and took great delight in the many actions of the group to beautify the area. He was a very accomplished artist and art teacher and was a member of the Delta Artis's Society. He won many awards at the groups art shows during his life. Many of his paintings hang in homes throughout the delta.
He was also known for his beautiful singing voice and was active in area churches during his life. He loved a good Cantata! He was a Deacon and Superintendent of Sunday School and helmed the Youth Choirs. He had a full and active life and will be sorely missed by both family and friends.
He may have been the Razorbacks most ardent supporter!
He was preceded in death by his mother Minnie Lee Rhoden House and his father James Virgil House as well as his brother Jimmy Dale House and his sisters Christine Easter, Pauline Sutton, Kathleen Clay, Bette McCrosky, Mary Helen Dearen, and Virginia Daniel, and his in-laws, George and Lillian Lykins. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda Joan House and his sons, Chris House, David House and Tommy House, (his former wife Christine Wright), and his children Alex House, Emily House and Josh House (as well his partner Chemaine Chadwick and her children Alexandria Sumner, her husband Dylan Summer and their child Jagger Summer and Drake Halloway). His sisters Jeri House and her husband Robert, Wanda Erstine and her husband Phillip, and his Sisters in law Johnnie Gail Lykins-Duvall, Millie Lucas, his brother in law Jr Lykins and his wife Juanita. He also is survived by a passel of nieces and nephews and their children.
It is with a sad heart hearing of Mr James passing. He was such a kind , Christian man! Growing up as a child in Second Baptist was some happy times. We were one big family! Chris I’m thinking of you and your siblings and remainder of family!
I remember him from the days at Second Baptist Church. Praying you all are comforted during this time.
Tommy, I am so sorry for your loss. I know there aren't words to make things better. Know that you and your family are in my prayers.
