Wanda Jean Stephens

of Little Rock, AR

August 24, 1945 - April 1, 2025

Wanda Jean (Cooper) Stephens, 79, of Little Rock, AR passed away on April 1, 2025 at Woodland Heights in Little Rock, AR in the company of her husband, Jerry Stephens.

Jean was born on August, 24, 1945 in Glencoe, AR to Joe and Isaphine Cooper. She lived there until they moved to Salem, AR in elementary school. She met Jerry there and they started dating in 7th grade. She informed him they would be married. Upon leaving Salem, she spent a year in Chicago with her close friend Carol and then spent some time in Kansas City. Upon returning to Arkansas, she and Jerry were married and moved to Little Rock, AR where they have remained ever since.

Jean started working at Timex and did so until Steven was born. She then took care of the family from home. She was President of the PTA at Bryant and an active member, teacher and chaperone at 6th and Izard Church of Christ. They have been members at Sylvan Hills, 6th and Izard, Pleasant Valley and Windsong since they moved to Little Rock.

She turned her self-taught hobby of photography into a thriving business where she and her business partner served much of the Central Arkansas area.

Jean had a deep love for church, family, music, travel, the beach, lighthouses, photography and most of all, her grandkids.

Jean is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jerry Stephens; children, Steven and Michael; grandchildren, David, Jason, Kenzie and Karly and her sister, Diane Ferrell. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Isaphine Cooper; sisters, Williamet Griffith, Hazel Clayton, Donna Sue Hatman, Novella Garrison; and brothers, Joe Jr., James and Johnnie Cooper.

A visitation will be held on April 4, 202, at 9:00 AM at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home in Little Rock, AR with the service following at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer's Organization of Arkansas or Windsong Church of Christ.

Her well-used Bible held one of her favorite scriptures, a reflection of her faith and love for others.

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." I John 4:7-11
