Charles Shirey, age 89 of Greenbrier Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. He was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on March 15, 1936, to the late Alva and Essie Shirey.
Charles worked for 26 years at Rock Island Railroad and finished his working career at National Garages in Little Rock.
Charles, along with his wife Susan, was an active member of the Robinson and Center church of Christ and enjoyed attending the church's Retirees Bible Class.
He was active with the Greenbrier Senior Citizen's Center where he enjoyed playing board games, dominoes & joker board, and of course, he always wanted to win. Charles also helped with the daily operations of the senior center.
Charles loved his family dearly and enjoyed attending his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren's activities.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by sisters Eva Combs and Geraline Fennell; a brother AJ Shirey; and a granddaughter Michelle Bardin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Susan Shirey of Greenbrier, AR; his daughters, Teresa Harris (Wesley) of Conway, AR, and Debbie Hudgeons (Randy) of Vilonia, AR; his grandchildren, Daniel Hudgeons (Rita) of Vilonia, AR, and Allison Overbay (Ryan) of Vilonia, AR; and a sister Alene Melton of Shreveport, LA. He also leaves behind eight cherished great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the Robinson & Center church of Christ, 1505 Robinson Ave., Conway AR. 72034.
Funeral Services will begin at 2:00pm on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the Robinson & Center church of Christ with Steve Norris officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway, AR.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Hudgeons, Conner Hudgeons, Kyle Hudgeons, Ryan Overbay, Grant Overbay, Jack Martin, Jansen Martin, and Maddox Martin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Myla Overbay along with the Robinson & Center church of Christ Elders.
