Shorty Ozier, age 95, Harrison, passed away March 18, 2025 at his home. He was born July 31,1929 to Hugh and Pebble (Wilson) Ozier, in Harrison, AR.
Shorty was a member of the Valley View Methodist Church. He served in the Navy on the USS Nereus after graduating Navy school in 1951. He worked for R. J. Reynolds in Tulsa, OK for thirty plus years, retired in 1985 and returned to Harrison. Shorty was a proud member of the Goblins Hall of Fame, North Arkansas Pioneers Hall of Fame and the Booster Club, Harrison's Round Up Club and he led the John Henry Shaddox Wagon Train for thirty plus years. In 2017, he was named Harrison's Man of Distinction. Shorty loved camping on the Illinois River in OK and on the Buffalo River. He loved riding horses on the beautiful trails of the Harrison Mountains and rode many miles with the Over The Hill Gang-Wednesday Riders. One of his great loves was watching football and basketball, it did not matter if it was high school, college or professional.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Ozier; his mother, Pebble (Wilson) Ozier; mother, Iva Ozier and Hugh D. Ozier Jr.
Shorty is survived his loving wife, Lois Ozier; other survivors include, Leon and Giovanna Richardson of Arizona, Gerry and Barbara Boyer, Tulsa OK, Dauna and Kenneth Keeter, Holly Ozier-Estes and Tim Manning all of Harrison, AR; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He will be buried at Maplewood Cemetery in a private ceremony.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Valley View Methodist Church on April 5, 2025 at 11:00 am.
