I worked with Dana many times in the Neuro ICU at Saint Thomas West Hospital. As a float nurse, I was constantly meeting new nurses and knew immediately that something stood out about Dana.. she showed genuine compassion to everyone she interacted with whether it was her patient or a staff member.. If you work in healthcare, you know that is actually really rare. Whether talking in person or when calling report from other units, she always gave you her full attention and made you feel like the most important person in the room. Dana set the bar high and it didn’t go unnoticed.
I know that she is and will be missed by her friends, family, and all the lives she touched in some way. May she rest in peace .

Dana always knew how to light up the room with her contagious beautiful smile and spirit. Those who didn’t know Dana missed out on so. Much. Dana never met a stranger and she was like one of mine. My daughter Kylie was very close to this sweet girl. I am wrapping my prayers for her brother and his children and all her close friends. She will always have a place in my heart.

Dana was one of my earliest friends from kindergarten; although we really didn't keep in touch that often, I thought a lot of her and still hold fond memories of our childhood. I know my parents thought pretty highly of Teddy and Melissa, and I strongly believe they'd be proud of the daughter they raised. Prayers for Jason and the rest of the family.

Dana was not just beautiful on the outside but had a heart of gold. I have to many memories of her to even begin with. She loved God, her family, Big dog lover, and music. She will truly be missed by so many people. She would light up the room. Goofy / Funny and always made you smile. Her smile was contagious. She worked so hard to be a RN and did a wonderful job, it was her true calling. Dana left a huge imprint on this earth and so many hearts.

I met Dana recently in Memphis. I was immediately struck by two eye catching traits. Dana’s magnetic smile that lit up the room and her absolutely contagious personality. She made friends and strangers alike feel comfortable and welcomed. These are not skills that are simply learned. They are SPECIAL GIFTS TO GOD’s exceptional children! On behalf of your “Three Memphis Boys” (Amos, Clarence @ Laurence) you are LOVED & You Will Be Missed!

Jason,

Sarah and I love you so much and hold you in our hearts. We are so heart broken that Dana has been taken from us. But her heart and soul will always live on in our memories. I remember how she and I shared a love for Americana music, especially for the artist, Levon Helm of The Band. We know that she missed your Mama and Daddy so much. But she is now at peace, and our prayer is for you to know the peace of knowing how much your family is loved and missed by so many.

Dana had the best smile, the best laugh. She loved life and always looked at the bright side. I worked with her at St. Thomas in Nashville. She made a bad day better. I feel so lucky that she left us with such great memories.
My condolences to her family. I can't imagine how hard this must be.

Dana, I don’t know what to say so I guess I will start from the beginning.

I have known you for years. The first time I saw you at Nashville State for clinicals you were this scared person that I had to bring out of your shell. Which you eventually did. You always had questions for me and i appreciated that of you. I had to work on getting those answers out of you instead of me telling you the answers myself. When you saw the red pen that made you even more scared. You began to trust me and believe in yourself. You became one of my best students. I knew that you would always be good. I got to see you at your pinning and then we were finally able to associate outside of the school. You kept in touch with me and was so excited when you were finally able to come with me as a coworker versus a teacher/student.

You finally started working with me and always thought you couldn’t do it. Again I continued to bring it out in you and show you that you could do this. You became one of my best coworkers and eventually became one of my best friends here at work. We had the best time together. We were inseparable at work. You helped me become a better person also. We kicked butt making our hospital certified in Neuro. You were one that people came to for questions now. You then had to learn a new area of the job. Again you had it, you just needed your confidence boost. You got it. You became a great cardiac nurse that you never thought could happen.

You were always afraid that you would let me down. Dana, I promise you—you NEVER. Let me down. You made me proud everyday I knew you.

When you transferred to Memphis, you made me proud again when you stepped up to become one of the best cardiac nurses at that hospital. I remember you calling me telling me—-can you believe it. I’m the one they come to for questions about CARDIAC…. Cardiac. lol. I knew you could do it. You finally knew you could do it also.

Every time we called or you came back to see me, it was like you never left. We picked right back up where we left off at. You were someone I could talk to and we could laugh for hours. I loved it.

You had this light in your eyes and smile that shined every time you entered a room. We always knew when you were there.

There was so many people who wished for you to come back to us and thought it was going to happen. Unfortunately it didn’t but you are always in our minds.

Dana you are my best friend and I will miss you and think of you often. Please know up there that I love you and I always will and our friendship will ALWAYS mean the world to me.
