of Harrison, AR
June 6, 1940 - March 11, 2025
Charlotte Frances Parker, or ''Toppy'' as she was known to family and friends, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Hillcrest Home in Harrison, AR.
Charlotte was the sixth of seven children born to Coy and Ruby Taylor Jenkins. She was born in Peel, AR but the family moved to Monarch, AR where she spent her formative years attending Lead Hill High School. She was a 1958 graduate and a standout basketball player. Upon graduation she worked as a CNA at Boone County Hospital before being hired as a telephone operator where her career spanned 29 years ending as a customer service representative at Boone County Telephone Company and later Alltel.
On January 6, 1961, she married Bobby ''Pete'' Parker. They were married for 58 years until his death in February of 2019. They enjoyed camping and were avid Arkansas Razorback Basketball fans and were season ticket holders for several decades. Charlotte was an active member of the Northside Church of Christ all her adult life. She enjoyed serving members of her community through her membership in the Twentieth Century Club. Her competitive nature was often seen while playing cards with friends and beating her grandchildren at Uno. She enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening and was known for delivering meals to those in need. One of her strongest gifts was being a nurturer as she became the primary caregiver for her mother and mother-in-law in their last years of life. Her greatest joy was spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with tea parties, pond fishing and trips to Branson that made for lasting memories.
Charlotte is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Ken Collins of Harrison and Meleah and Travis McNeal of Searcy, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Layne Victoria McLain (Logan) of Bentonville, AR, Lucas Parker Collins (Nikki) of Harrison, AR, Parker Ryan McNeal of Searcy, AR and Kate Addison McNeal of Searcy, AR and her great-grandchildren, Campbell Ruby, Collins Reyann and Callen Ruth McLain and Rudy Pete Collins. She was the favorite aunt to a host of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special cousins, Ross Albert and Johnette Parker.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Charlotte was preceded in death by her sisters, Coyeta Whited, Vera Ruth Roark, Doris Owen and Rita Burleson and her brothers, J.T. Jenkins and Rodney Jenkins.
Visitation was on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Northside Church of Christ in Harrison.
Funeral service was on Saturday, March 15, 2025, also at Northside Church of Christ, with Steve Powers, Jerry ''Cub'' Scott and her sons-in-law officiating.
Interment was at Maplewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Charlotte's grandsons, Lucas, Logan and Parker along with her nephews, Bill and Steve Burleson, Craig and Jonathon Jenkins, Chance Burleson and Brent Parker.
Melissa and Meleah want to extend special thanks to nieces, Cheryl Andreson and Rita Whited, for their unwavering support and help during her aging years.
She spent her final years living at Hillcrest Home where the entire staff showed her loving care.
