September 5, 1956 - March 4, 2025
Joni Ann Meador departed this life Tuesday, March 4, 2025. She was born September 5, 1956 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Joni was the daughter of Donald and Lorna Harjo, both of whom preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Sharon ''Bucky'' Williamson.
Joni was a farm and business owner with her late husband, James ''Jimmy'' Meador Jr. But she enjoyed being a homemaker most, where she would raise three daughters. She grew up in Oklahoma on her family farm where she would help take care of the many animals which included cows, bulls and horses. Her love for animals continued throughout her life where she always had horses, dogs, cats and even a rescue donkey, Henry, until her passing. She competed in rodeos in her younger years, even being named rodeo queen during the annual homecoming as a teen. She'd eventually move to Arkansas after marrying and raise her family. But she never forgot her Oklahoma roots that made her the kind of woman who could fix a fence or sling a bail of hay.
She is survived by her three daughters, Stacie Meador, Dawne King and Laura Meador (Andrew Murphy). She also is survived by her five grandchildren who lovingly called her Grandma; Trevor Pulliam, Jordan Pulliam, Destiny King, Brayden King and Evelyn ''Evie'' Murphy. She is survived by two brothers, Justin Harjo and Casey Harjo and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Per Joni's wishes there will not be a public service. Instead, a memorial for immediate family only will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Joni's wish was for donations to your local animal shelter, ASPCA or the Rider Relief Fund with PBR in Joni's honor.
So sorry to hear of Joni’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers for all of your family.
