of Maumelle, AR
January 2, 1942 - February 25, 2025
Joyce Whitecotton, 83, of Maumelle, Arkansas passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025 with her daughters, Angèle and Kelly, by her side. Born in Prescott, Arkansas in 1942, Joyce was the third of four children. After completing high school, she pursued her education at Spencer Draughon Business College in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she built the foundation for a career and a life filled with love, service and dedication.
It was in Shreveport where Joyce met the love of her life, Jerry Whitecotton. They married in 1968 and built a life together. They raised their family and formed deep roots in the community. Joyce enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with Southwestern Bell, which later became AT&T, retiring after years of dedicated service.
Beyond her professional life, Joyce was a woman of warmth and generosity. She was actively involved in her church and community, always giving her time and talents to those around her. She found joy in gardening and cards, participated in women's groups and played an integral role in planning weddings at her church. Her greatest passion, however, was being deeply engaged in the lives of her daughters, leading the school's parent-teacher organization and ensuring they always felt supported and loved.
Even in the final years of her life, she was recognized as a kind lady, that always would try to encourage the ones that were in need too.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Freeman McKelvey and sister, Sophie Taylor and husband, Jerry Whitecotton. She is survived by her brother, Fletcher McKelvey; as well as her children, Angèle Forrest, her children, Becca and Cooper and Kelly Williams and husband, Jeff and their children, Reese and Bradley.
Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m, Friday, March 14, 2025 at Riverwood Memorial Gardens.
If so moved, flowers or a donation to a charity of choice in her memory are welcomed.
I remember the love & joy your parents had for you & Kelly in the few times I met you when you lived in Humphreys. Love to you & your families!
To the family of Joyce Whitecotton:
I remember Joyce and Jerry through the friendships that were cultivated during the time we worked together at The First National Bank of Shreveport. It was a time when the pace of life was slower and we had time to know the employees as well as their families. Those who knew your mother and dad pray for you and your love ones.
