Patty Hogan Hughart

of Searcy, AR

July 1, 1933 - February 25, 2025

Reverend Patty Hogan Hughart (ordained), 91, of Searcy passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 2th, at 4:17 PM to her eternal home. Despite her needing to use a motorized scooter in recent times, her unwavering faith, radiant smile and inspiring words were a constant encouragement to all who knew her. Now in the comforting presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, she is fully whole. At the time of her passing, Patty served on the pastoral staff at Searcy First Assembly of God.

Patty was born to Everett and Lola Hogan on July 1, 1933 in Pittsburgh, Kansas. Her talents and accomplishments were many and varied: an accomplished artist, talented pianist and piano instructor, choral director, author, playwright and drama producer. Patty documented stories of five generations of family and faith, chronologically recounting the stories in minute details with dates, places and witnesses of God's faithfulness and divine interventions to the Hogan and Hughart families. Through the years, Patty enjoyed entertaining friends as the consummate hostess, hiking and picnicking in the outdoors, traveling, foliage tours in the Ozarks, playing games and aggressively beating friends in chicken-foot. Her cooking, canning and baking skills were renowned.

True to the center of her heart, Patty was a lifelong servant of Jesus Christ. Although having served as lay leaders in ministry during their young adult years, Patty and her husband, Bill accepted the call to vocational ministry in 1962, serving for 63 years in pastoral and teaching roles, promoting mission endeavors around the world and ministering on Native American reservations. Patty and Bill were each ordained in the Assemblies of God in 1970. Most recently, they both served on the pastoral staff at Searcy First Assembly of God until Bill passed on June 1, 2024 and she passed this last Tuesday on February 25, 2025.

Patty is survived by her three children, Judy Cranford of Morrilton, Dale Hughart of Walnut Ridge and David (Sheryl) Hughart of Cebu City, Philippines; four grandchildren, Keith Gibby, Anthony (Liz) Hughart, Stephanie de la Cruz and Aubree (John) Hughart-Thomas; three great-grandchildren, Ella Hughart, Blake Hughart and Elisa Hughart; several nieces and nephews and literally hundreds of friends.

In addition to her parents, Patty is preceded in death by her brother, Lee Hogan, as well as her daughter-in-law, Gala Hughart.

The Hughart children extend their heartfelt gratitude to the amazing care and exceptional services provided to their parents at Providence Assisted Living in Searcy.

Homegoing services will be held at Searcy First Assembly of God on Sunday, March 2, 2005. Pre-service visitation will be held from 2:30-3:30 PM at the church with the celebration of Patty's life and homegoing being held at 3:30-4:30pm. Reverends Rusty Blann and Mark Ferren will be officiating. Interment will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Grey, Don Stairs, Jim Medford, Charles Robbins, Darrel Martin, Larry Barker, Jerry Dortch and Roger Vest.
