Richard Baker, age 90, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025 at the Springs at the Creekside Nursing and Rehab nursing home in Yellville, AR. Born in 1934 in East St. Louis, Richard was raised in Southern California, where he developed a deep appreciation for hard work and resilience. At a young age, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Navy, proudly serving during the Korean War.
Following his military service, Richard pursued a career in retail business. Later in life, he moved east, eventually settling in Marion County in 1855. There he found joy in solitude and the natural beauty of the woods, embracing a life of quiet reflection.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings. He will be remembered for his steadfast spirit, his love of nature and his unwavering independence. Per his wishes, no formal services will be held. Those who knew him are encouraged to honor his memory in their own way, perhaps by taking a quiet walk in the woods or pausing to appreciate the simple beauty in life.
