of Yellville, AR
March 26, 1935 - February 19, 2025
John G. Goulet, age 89, of Pyatt, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 with his loving wife by his side.
He was born on March 26, 1935 in Montreal, Canada to the late Albert and Elveria (Chatigny) Goulet, the fourth of seven children. John married the love of his life, Patricia Morris, on October 13, 1956. In their early years, John worked as a machinist making aerospace parts at Northrop Aircraft in Fullerton, California. He served for 9 years in the US Army National Guard, attaining the rank of Second Lieutenant. In 1962, he graduated from the Police Academy and joined the Fullerton Police Department, where he served as a patrol officer, motorcycle officer and later assigned to the department's investigation division. He had wide experience in the auto theft detail where his dedication to thorough investigative techniques resulted in the prosecution of a number of criminal offenders. He received the ''Officer of the Year Award'', selected by his peers at the police department and taught auto theft investigation in seminars for police agencies throughout the county before moving his family to Arkansas where he worked primarily as a home builder.
John was incredibly talented and was able to do anything he set his mind to. He modeled determination and work ethic to his children and grandchildren. He created ways to provide, which usually involved great sacrifice. From refurbishing bikes and trikes many times for Christmas gifts, to converting a 1955 Cadillac into a camper for family vacations, giving haircuts in the garage to all the boys (as well as neighbor kids), obtaining a commercial playground for the backyard, there was no end to his ability to provide. He believed in community and volunteered in various areas of need, serving in positions of leadership in church and schools. He always helped friends and neighbors without any expectation of payment. He was a devoted member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Yellville where he built two different additions and served as head of the Building and Maintenance Committee for a time. He dearly loved his church family.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Patricia; eleven children, Cathy Bos, Jim (Arlene) Goulet, Suzanne (Rick) Hurst, Valerie (Jack) Wallace, Dennis Goulet, Jacquie (David) Wallace, Darren (Lori) Goulet, Robert (Andrea) Goulet, Sharon (Rodney) Pillow, Kevin Goulet and Kristin (Larry) Stidman; one sister, Henriette Renaud; one brother, Michael Goulet; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a very large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, a sister and a grandson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to St. Andrew's Parish Religious Education Program at PO Box 197, Yellville, Arkansas, 72687.

Sending prayers for the whole Goulet family. I have always had much respect for Pat and John. They were a big part of my church family growing up, then when I came back as an adult. John kinda took my son under his wing and always talked n reached out to him. It always made my momma heart smile. My heart hurts for the family but rejoices with the Lord that John is home.
