Lillian McFatridge Sexton

of Horn Lake, MS

August 18, 1940 - February 14, 2025

Lillian McFatridge Sexton was born August 18th, 1940 to Mahlon George McFatridge and Mary Elizabeth McFatridge. She leaves one son, James D. Sexton, Jr. and his wife, Cathie Sexton; two grandsons, Justin Sexton and John Sexton; Three great grandchildren; her sister, Mary McFatridge Spencer and her husband, Charles Spencer; her sister-in-law, Carolyn McFatridge and many nephews, nieces and friends. She is preceded in death by her son, John Sexton and her parents, Mahlon and Beth McFatridge and brother, Mickey McFatridge. She departed this life on Friday, February 14th at Willowbend Care Facility with her family surrounding her. She had a very successful career of over 50 years as executive vice president of the Sneed Insurance Company. While employed there, she developed a special insurance program for street rod cars. She was affiliated with the National Street Rod Association ,with an exclusive contract with the owner of this association, Vernon Walker. She had integrity, honesty and loved her work. She loved meeting people at the many street rod shows all over the United States. Her generosity was well known by many including family, friends, charities and even strangers if in need. She loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. She had a beautiful singing voice and in her youthful years and early adulthood, she won many singing contests with the help of her very talented pianist and friend, John Dresbach. She was referred to by many as ''Diamond Lil''. The last three years of her life, Lillian suffered vacuolar dementia and this vivacious lady was diminished in her ability to be the independent person she always was. She loved people and loved doing things with others. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Heaven has gained a special lady.

Our hearts go out to Jay and family in the loss of a wonderful lady. Lillian was honest, sincere and always willing to share her knowledge among her many customers in the street rod hobby. We were blessed to have worked with her at the NSRA events for many years and proud to call her a friend. Till we meet again, rest in peace Lillian.

I always was excited when she would come to church or a singing and sing for us. Especially if I got to play for her, but she didn’t need me! She was a star and had the most beautiful voice I had ever heard. She was encouraging to me as a young person. She is missed already.

Lill, you have always shared with me that I was another brother not brother in law! I appreciated that so much and Mary & I love you and will always remember our great times together ! Thanks for being such great fans of our cooking , we will always remember you saying “Charlie & Mary are fabulous cooks and we have this arrangement I love to eat they love to cook what a deal!“ You gave us a laugh while complimenting us at the same time. Glad we had you as our sister.

We always loved seeing and visiting with Lil when we went to see our Spencer family
in West Memphis. Our oldest son Corey never forgot the time she took him and
Cousin Charlie Spencer Jr to a street rod show in Tontitown, AR.
Until we meet again…

As a girl, I have wonderful memories of Lillian. Her beauty and singing captured my attention whenever I had the opportunity to be around her. I was a much younger cousin so I lived on the fringe of her activities and did not get to know her as well as I would have liked! I remember her as a very vivacious, caring and loving cousin.
